I am really furious that the 2009 Sharks are being made to pay for the sins of another team, under another coach, in another era.

The following sponsors are no friends of the Sharks - they have stuck the boot in when our beloved club is on its knees.

Do your best to boycott this mob, who have used this crisis as a convenient excuse to save a few pennies or get some extra headlines.

I now have absolute hatred for these brands - and will never embrace them after the way they have left the Sharks in the lurch.

Tyrepower - pulled $70,000 in sponsorship

Wendy Wu Tours - pulled $35,000 in sponsorship

Westfield Miranda - $15,000 (talk about stingy)

Australia Mushroom Growers Association - $15,000

I agree Rising Up. They are fvcked and all Sharks fans should never buy from them.
However the sponsors that stick with the Sharks, we should buy from them and thank them for staying.
Also I dont see why other sponsors dont jump on board, they would get a lot of exposure. After all, the current Sharks players weren't there and the NZ police haven't charged anyone.

Yes well I was going to spend some of my stimulus with them on Tuesday about $900 for two cars they aren't the cheapest in the area but I thought I would support them as they were supporting the sharks I will drive down and cancel in the morning and give them the reason why.

I'm a big believer in brand loyalty. I recent bought a new digital TV and I made sure it was an LG. If they pulled the plug, my loyalty would end and I'd buy another brand for sure in future.

I just think corporate sponsors are stuck on a treadmill where they make knee jerk reactions without thinking it through. If the current Sharks squad was involved in this scandal, I agree they'd have every right to protect their brands. But the current Sharks squad - including management and fans - do not deserve to be punished for the sins of another era.

Who, for example, would look at that 2002 scandal and say "That's it, the Mushroom Growers Association is tarnished by sponsoring the Sharks." It's just poor form and its gutless.

If nothing else, this fiasco is weeding out the fair weather corporate friends from the rock solid supporters.

By pulling out, they really are damaging their brands more than they realise.

Seriously, vote with your feet and tell them why. That's the only way the message will sink in. It's not a one way street.

What I hate the most about these spineless pricks is some of them say they're dropping out because they dont want to be associated with a team that abuses women but their real reason is they think they'll lose money continuing their sponsorship. So purely a business decision and not a moral decision as they make it out to be. So in other words all they care about is money which is fine but to say they're doing it for other reasons is taking advantage of the situation at the downfall of our team/club .

I did the same thing and encouraged others to do likewise. I think LG would do well to consider any thought of dropping the sharks, I would imagine that the shire is flush with Plasma and LCD televisions.

Absolutely, all they are doing is using the bad press as their excuse, why not just be honourable and say GFC affecting us, we'll give notice this will be our last yr of sponsorship? Very misleading.

Can see your dissapointment in these sponsors, but in reality they have most probably spent more $$$$ supporting the sharks than you will ever dream of spending with the club,so lighten up, . No offence meant . But there is no need to boycott and bag these businesses, they give support where and when they chose and thats their choice, not yours. Be thankful for what they have given. Dont burn bridges.Im Interested in seing how much you provide in sponsorship.???
Relax a bit and enjoy the footy. Go you Sharks.

Come on you LOYAL sharkies supporters. Show us what you have done for the sharks that makes you such an authority on deciding where we should shop and where we shouldnt.Just because you buy your season ticket and schooners at the game, do you think that finances the team.??? those sponsors have given well and it should be appreciated and if you think differently thats fine but dont ridicule them. Once again no Offence But enough with Winging and your Tall Poppy Syndrome.
Lets all just Support the sharks and hope for a win soon.

So whose interests do you represent, because you clearly have a motive here.

Whenever corporate sponsors are involved in any sport, there has traditionally been an easy out because of perceived "brand damage".

I am saying that in this case that is absolute nonsense -- no one seriously connects these brands with a tarnished reputation due to events back in 2002. Their decision to pull support is a cop out, pure and simple and I won't cop it.

They only sponsor sporting clubs to build brand loyalty. What they don't realise is that it is a two-way street and their knee-jerk over-reactions can also backfire on them. I decide where I spend my money and they don't deserve a cent of it.

Harvey Norman is not pulling its backing of the sport - simply because it is not short-sighted.

2002 is a long time ago....in this sport.

If such ignorant, idiotic and easily led sponsors want to believe some phyco nymph who can not make up her mind if shoe wanted to be involved with the guys or not....then let them go.

I find it interesting that no one is questioning the morals of a women who propositioned two men at once, took another home, did not yell, scream or struggle when others entered the room and then told otheres whom she worked with as to how good it was.

Our Club will struggle....but if we can get good marketing skills onboard we shoudl be able to regroup fairly quickly.....remember there is no such thing as bad advertising!!!!

its all good in saying we'll boycott these companies....and i certainly will too.

but in reality, they ended their deals with us because they were more worried about everyone else boycotting them for being in partnership with us, not sharks fans abandoning them for leaving us....
