I’m genuinely interested in how people can land on Blayke being the best player in the club, not the fact that they have. My main issue is that I always thought that Blayke had a massive ceiling, but I’m not seeing it consistently.
Cam McInnes' ceiling is 81 tackles in a game. You must have some serious questions regarding his performances most weeks.

But I would be interested to hear how they arrived at BB as well, it'd be an interesting insight

I think the human being capacity is now set at 81 tackles!
I’m more worried about the run metres in the 20s or under, of which there are too many.

Nobody did say he was the best player in the club - even the coaches and players - and certainly nobody on the forum.

He won two awards which were likely collated using a scoring system. I'd interpret this as Blayke having been consistent enough and played in enough games get "some points" from most games and from most voters... sufficient to end up on top of the leader board in each.

Yep - and there you go again hyper-focusing on a stat which means sweet FA. You're just taking the piss now.

I think you're snowman in disguise.

Far too polite mate.

Did Blayke get a cheeseburger meal at Macca's?

Well ok, let’s look at attack more generally. What about Blaykes consistent attack this year did you like?

The fact he did a hookers job more than any other hooker in the game is a good start. Like, a really good start. He did the **** out of his core job.

It’s very demanding to consistently get to hooker and it’s very demanding to make an absolute heap of tackles in the middle.

Both things his teammates and staff clearly respect.

I personally wouldn’t call him our best player, although I think I’ve been higher on him than many, but he arguably did his job the best out of anyone and that’s worth quite a lot.

Great, we agree, he wasn’t our best this year.

We agree we both personally don’t think he was the best player. I’m not pushing back against him having won though.

Remember also we see him about 2 hours a week and the rest of the team and staff probably see him 10x that on a slow a week.

Sure that 2 hours we see has to be pretty heavily weighted, but that is a lot of his involvement we don’t see. If he is improving the training experience, helping make others around him better etc that doesn’t have zero value.

Good hooker service (yes I know the deep pass to Nicho wasn’t great, and there was another week he threw two bad passes in a row) is not to be underrated.

Not a hooker pass but look at that kickoff return few rounds back Hunt got blown up because Tricky shovelled him a dodgy pass - getting blokes whalloped, and then all having to defend, because of bad passing is a good way to lose trust in the group.
Blayke has clearly done the opposite.

I think that part of what throws people is that he manages to look chilled whilst doing the hard work
Yeah that definitely annoys some.

Dude made the most tackles in the NRL but he mustn’t care about League because he has a smiley personality.

Maybe the fact he can put himself through that, as one of the lightest players in the NRL, and still be smiling afterwards says he loves his Rugba Loig

Moyza the same - remember plenty kicking off because a camera would pan to him injured and he’d smile “should be ashamed to show his face up there smirking while he absolutely steals a wage off us!” as though 90% of players don’t smile at the camera when it pans on them when injured. Luai out with a busted shoulder was doing the damn Mexican wave!

People seem to think that I reckon he’s ****. He’s not. I just don’t think he was close to our best player. I don’t think Ramien, Talakai or Ronnie were either and still like them.

I think Ramien or mcinness. Ronnie had an off year and the numbers show it and Talakai was dropped at one point for a reason. Ramien is the best defensive centre in the game for me and should play origin.

So Sharks and Roosters only teams in top 8 with 1 hooker. Even Bellyache went back to 2 dummy half system. Put another dummy half on the bench and watch Brailey go next level😄

He’s going to win 3 awards next year?
