INTERESTING - From the other Forum - The Carrot

Pretty much mate.

The promise was first grade.

Gus tried very hard to get him at the panthers and actually offered him more than what we did however Gus couldn't guarantee when he would play first grade.

As good as a ball playing backrower/lock Jack is, he sees himself as a back.

If we played Bird next to Gagan thats a pretty big and strong (and young) right wing. As long as he can handle the defence, he'll be right. That will be Luke Lewis inside him as well.

Mooney said in an interview Bird was brough here to bolster the NRL ranks. Seeing we have Lewis, Gallen, Graham, Heighno etc you would think its a centre signing.

**** if we can pull that off, say both of them plus Bird thats a good little week of signings. 3 centres, basically our weakest position of the last 6 or 7 years.

Half back is still the big black hole...

Robsons shown he's a capable half if everything isn't piled on him.

With Ennis coming and Nu Brown with a bit of experience, I can handle Robson at half for another season until we pick someone up.

go home jimbob you're drunk.

Robson has had 3 seasons basically to offer up something. If we have to have him for 1 more year i wont be happy but i will rest easy knowing (hoping) that we wont renew him. He woulda been ok in a different era. But the game is now a game of field position. He has little to no vision in attack anywhere on the field and his last tackle kicks are rank average. We have got a few tries from his attacking kicks, but really any half could do that. He is slow. His is a good tackler. Woulda been a good hooker really.

Plus Robbo is a good 20 to 30 metres short in the long kicking game. When he kicks from our 30, he's lucky to make it to their 30. And it's always on the full. Hardly ever finds the grass.

Not the fastest but bowls good line and length... I'll get my coat
Flanno will get him bowling underarm before moving him to Wicket Keeper and ultimately replace him with an aging Glenn McGrath for overs

If we are targeting him to fill a centre spot in the long run, we must have other plans in the works as far as back row recruitment goes. We are very light in that department with youth talent. Who do you guys think we should target in that area?
Who gives a flying ****!?! Sick of this focus and concern over backrowers, totally overvalued position in our team and in the NRL in general. Put some absolute no name nuffies there so we can save some cash for important positions and force our team to rely on more traditional methods of attack then just give it to Gallen or Graham to create something. FMD they are forwards not centres or half backs and we have won jack **** with our star backrow

As long as they can pass the ball left or right to their centre before the line and tackle I don't give 2 ****s who they are

Wow, fantastic signing. I thought we had lost him with the St George changes and what-not. Mooney might be redeeming himself (Well, to be fair the word is that Bird had better offers, our lack of centres was more coercive than anything else, but whatever). :drunk

Can he play as a 5/8th?

Yes i do think they Brown should be the 5/8th.

I am just thinking that if we are stuck with Robbo maybe we can get away with having NU as an impact player from the bench at the end of each half.

Taking Robson off at set intervals during the game is the biggest impact play we can make - doesn't matter who he is replaced with or if at all
