SHARKS FOUR HEADING FOR PNG
sharks.com
Sharks players Greg Bird, Paul Gallen, Luke Douglas and Ben Pomeroy leave on Wednesday with the Prime Ministers XIII team bound for Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
The four will represent the ARL in promoting health messages to the region, before taking part in a match on Saturday night against the Kumuls in what will be used as something of a selection trial for the upcoming test match against the Kiwis on October 13.
In winning the number six jersey for the game against the Kumuls, Bird is in the prime position to be named at five eighth for the Test match. Gallen and Douglas are rated as outside chances to play for the Australian side, while Pomeroy should gain some valuable experience from rubbing shoulders with the elite group of players assembled for the PNG game.
