Time for Uele to step up then if Gal gives it away. He’s been tearing NSW Cup as of late. I like Ava but he’s not getting any games so you can’t really blame him.

Played the first 10 and didn’t do anything really to cement his spot. Should of gone back to nsw cup and ripped in to force his way back into the 17

was a really meh signing

played a few decent games before joining us and was solid enough but never good enough for a team at the level we want to play at

That game he destroyed the sharks at Leichhardt.
Was excited to see him in sharks colours but yeah never seemed to keep that intensity
Week in week out.

I liked Ava, he was good and consistent for us, didn't make errors and good defender. Never let us down in a simple role

but he wasn't flash either and didn't have an offload. If that's your game as a forward fine but you need to show some fire and aggression to make up for it, break some tackles, force some errors ect. Only the odd game where he really charged himself into the defense.

5 or 6 years ago prob would have been a great Flanno forward for our squad to carry on the bench but there's too much dynamic quality and competition in our forwards now with young up and comers in the mix as well

wouldn't have complained if he was kept on so it's a shame but it makes sense

This is a fair assessment. I think his biggest issue is he is a little slow. If he could run quicker he would have a lot more power in his hits and be a brilliant defender like prior. I have always wondered if he would have benefited form playing NSW cup for say 6 weeks and playing big minutes to get his fitness up. Kind of what Ulele appears to be doing.

It would also help if Ava knew what end of the field to go to. :p

Yep, agreed.

I was ultra impressed with Uele on Saturday night, I know Ava went off injured but Uele easily outplayed him.

He charged into the ruck, carried blokes with him and bent the line.

I reckon he's an excellent back up to Fifs and Prior and I know this is way out there but he looked so trim and fast that he could also play backrow.

To me Uele was great in the first 10-15 minutes but wasn't so effective after that.

Don't forget Woods as well.

Apparently linked with a move to Leeds? 3 year deal? Anyone confirm?

If that's all we need to fix our salary crap issue then I'd be stoked.
He's probably prop #6 now behind Fif, Prior, Woods, Uele and even Gal coming off and going back on at prop

To me Uele was great in the first 10-15 minutes but wasn't so effective after that.

We had like 30% of ball in the first half and got pounded basically the whole first quarter by an NRL forward pack. I recall a few times he made back to back tackles.
It's unlikely he'd ever start for us and have to do sustained defense like that so his fitness is probably good for at least 20 mins as an NRL sub if we wanted to use him. He'd have more older, stronger NRL players around him too so the tackles would get a bit easier when it is Gal or Woods (even Chad) in the tackle with him, rather than Flanju

Ava was fine in his role: 20 minute bench forward on close to minimum wage

... but since he was signed the team has added Woods and Uele, Gal has decided to play the extra year, and the younger middle forwards (Williams, CTA, Magoulias) have all gotten better.

i honestly keep forgetting woods plays for us

but as for ava i agree, no loss if he leaves and imo uele should be ahead of him.

uele to play maybe 20 minutes a game. last 10 of the first half and maybe the first 10-15 second half.

My only memorable Ava moment is when he was playing for the Tigers and flattened one of our forwards.

Hasn't done anything memorable since.

Meh.
