1 way to make it work is have the anzac test and SOO games on the stand alone weekend and have the knockout comp in those weeks

It all comes down to club depth and who wants a "trophy" .. I sure when the NRL teams enter the comp eg round 4 etc half would want a crack (ie like us outside the 8) and others eg Cowboys who are battling some injuries won't ... that's when you can also give some U20's a crack - also no Warriors - Aussie only

Bit like what the A-League want to do to match an FA cup type thing - the big clubs want to win it but send in the 2nd stringers the others can't afford to .. would have to be good risk/reward for clubs financially .. If we lost Gal to a cup game we'd be spewing.

No way, I just don't see the use in having crappy teams amatuer teams in their when we know the only teams that will be left are the NRL teams.

I did vote yes but I didn't read it right and thought it would be a knockout comp between the NRL and ESL top grade sides. That I would love to see.

like the super league world cup challenge... would be good.

but i still think there is merrit in a shorter season, stand alone rep games, and a mid week cup

revenue and sponsors alone would and should be salivating at the thought of sponsoring the cup.

the mid week superleague cup is spnosored by carnegie, which is leeds university's monopoly on the sporting world in the uk, they have their hand in every pocket available for a sum of $$$ ( or pounds ) and this alone makes them a powerhouse

should be something that should be addressed in the next broadcasting rights

If some of the NSW or QLD Cup teams weren't feeder affliates to some NRL teams (e.g Newtown/Roosters) I reckon it could work.

So the season runs for 12 months a year, yeah I can see a lot of support that.

Would be great for us fans, no doubt.

But what about the poor ****s that have to play all year round with no rest?

I hate to break it to ya boys, but it will never happen.

Voted No,

Don't really see the need for a different championship then the one we have. I mean, how many champs do we need? As far as I'm concern there's only one Premiers & it should remain like that.

It would quickly turn into a farce once the NRL sides enter it I would imagine... Unless they rest a lot of players.

Could you imagine Melbourne Storm vs Aus Navy for example... LOL

120-0 at half time.

Well I suppose you could do it without the NRL clubs.

The highest level would be the NSW and QLD cups.

That way it might get interesting, and there may be an upset or 2.

If you had the NRL clubs in it, one of them would win every year.

there is no point having a challenge cup for just nswcup/qld cup teams

the esl one has all divisions, **** happens i guess.

although one year i think workington got all the way to the quarter finals (i think it was workington)

If no NRL clubs are involved do you really think people will watch it?

Some NRL clubs are struggling just to get people to their matches...

I sat down and watched Featherstone vs Castleford on ESPN, Featherstone caused a boilover on their local ground and played some of the most entertaining football I've ever seen, it was more entertaining then most of the matches we've seen down here this year. If an Australian Challenge Cup includes some of the lower teams from NSW and QLD who will just chuck the ball around and actually have a crack, I'm all for it.
