That ****wit Hooper tried to bring up the whole ASADA crap on Sterlo tonight, both Sterlo and Brandy both said it's over, gone and the Sharks have moved on and maybe the media should too. Loved it.

The real issue in my opinion is while this whole injecting thing was going on in both codes, not a single drug test came back positive. This shows that whatever testing regime ASDA is using, is not working plain and simple. To think any elite sport is drug free is horribly naïve. Everyones on something. wether that something is currently illegal or soon to be well that's a different story

I think thats the case. And i think that is probably half of the Sharks players defence. They never tested positive. But IIRC it was Elkin who (possibly) self administered the substances and tested to prove they couldnt be traced.

I think what was Flanagans saving grace was that he claimed to have no knowledge of the injections until Givney brought it to his attention. But like if a kid was abused in a pre-school, the abuser will get in ****, but so will the day care and the supervisors who let their guard down

ASADA couldnt prove drug. Irvine in his ignorance gave an 'all but', but still it wasn't enough. Due to this, which is my option, our players had no other option but to take a deal.

Essendon was solid. The Titans look to be doing the same.

So it's Irvine's fault?

Serious question

Look it was obvious we were the easist target. Only the naive would think we were the only ones. However, due to our rollover, we became the only one.
I was very vocal when this surfaced it was about what could be proven.

Do I think Flanagan and co are innocent ? **** no. Do I think Irvine and co handled it well. **** no.

I'm glad it over cause the club is what's important. To me our inexperience showed in all aspects.

I could forgive Irvine for that. Considering Rothfield had some sort of agenda to oust him I didnt and wouldnt believe everything Rothfield reported. Irvine and his posse legit saved us from the brink of closure. I would love to have Irvine as Chairman right now working with Gorman.

Hooper was way out of his league on there last night. Saying the scrum has no place anymore, cam smith 'its a great attacking chance, having 5-6 defenders spread across 3-4 of the field.

A thought that didnt enter hoopers mind

Cronulla boss Lyall Gorman says players caught up in ASADA scandal have moved on, focused on winning

CRONULLA boss Lyall Gorman said the players caught up in the anti-doping scandal who were still at the club were only focused on chasing their first NRL victory for the season — not the Essendon supplements saga.

Sharks players were entitled to feel let down by Cronulla and the NRL after it emerged on Monday 34 past and present Bombers players had been cleared by the AFL tribunal of peptide us.

Cronulla players, including skipper Paul Gallen, signed admissions they had been administered with peptides, and received 12-month backdated suspensions.

If the players agreed, it meant they would only miss the final three NRL matches of last season.

If they chose to fight the charges with the backing of Cronulla and the NRL, they may have also escaped penalty like their AFL counterparts.

Gorman and coach Shane Flanagan spoke with all the players involved on Wednesday, but said there was no ill feeling towards them.

“We’ve had discussions with the playing group, and all the messages coming from the players as far as the club is concerned has been nothing but positive,’’ said Gorman, who only started in his post last November, after the penalties were handed down, and well after the club’s much publicised 2011 supplements program.

“As I’ve said from day one, we have to put ASADA behind us and move on. More importantly, we’re 0-4 in the competition, and our focus needs to be on getting the on-field results right.

'Time to move on' for Cronulla Sharks

“If there are any player welfare issue to arise out of yesterday (with what happened with Essendon), we’ve got a process here in place where we actively monitor a player’s wellness, and if there are any issues we need to work through with the playing group, we’ve got all the expertise and support in place to do so.

“I wasn’t part of the club back then, and it’s not for me to judge the past in any way shape or form.

“At the end of the day it was a matter between the NRL, ASADA and the players with their legal advisers.

“For whatever reasons, rightly or wrongly, actions occurred at the time.

“I’ve spoken with the players, and they’re focus is on moving on and Sunday.’’

Even if they wanted to, Sharks players would have no legal avenue to overturn their penalties in light of the Essendon findings.

The Essendon and Cronulla matters were different. Cronulla players accused of being administered with CJC-1295 and GHRP-6, which are both on the WADA banned list. They also pleaded guilty, albeit with a 24-hour window to accept the backdated penalty.

Bombers players were accused of being administered thymosin, which is not on the WADA banned list, but also the prohibited thymosin beta-4. However, the AFL appeals tribunal found there was insufficient evidence to penalise the players.

ASADA chief executive Ben McDevitt, who is considering an appeal against the AFL tribunal’s verdict, said the Essendon and Cronulla matters were “significantly different”.

“Different year, different substances, different administration regimes, different numbers, different levels of sophistication,” McDevitt said.

Different cos The Sharks were easier targets and had less coin to fight so there was a better chance of a conviction which justified the "Blackest day in Australian sport" presser!!!
But........... The fact that ASADA only pushed for a 12 month backdated punishment (effectively only a 3 game suspension) shows their case was week!
We should have dug our heals in.
It's over now and time to move on, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

It takes years to develop effective tests for PEDs. By the time the tests have been developed the next wave of drugs have hit the market. It has virtually nothing to do with testing regimes.

The current test for TB-4 can only pick up use for a few hours after it has been injected. This is why getting injected offsite is such a big deal. It protected the players from drug tests because they were kept at an external facilities until the drugs were undetectable by testing.

Welcome to sport circa 2015.

Just watched a press conference with Ben McDevitt who said that they will be holding samples for 10 years now (up from 8).

I can see a lot of athletes being stripped YEARS after winning stuff. Holding samples for 8 years was already quite a long time though.

10 years hey. Essendon are going to be in a world of trouble if those players eventually test positive and a couple of players start having health issues.

All in all, whatever we took, it was for a much shorter period and for this reason the whole thing is done and dusted for us. Essendon on the other hand, not so much.

Jones asks first question.
Dank starts one of his nothing answers, Jones interupts.
Repeat 6 times.
Dank threatens to sue.
Interview ends.

-Epilogue-

Txt msg - "hey stephen, lets catch up for a coffee tmorrow. - Danny W."
