I would much rather Seggy. The fact that we have some young guys coming through isn't a reason to not sign a guy like Seggy, plenty of really good NYC players haven't kicked on to be superstars in firsts (Lichha, Mills, KOD, et al).

As for Farrah, I don't like him, but he wasn't playing well this year when he was in firsts. Why would he now?

A change of club can often rejuvenate a player, especially when they've been at the one club for so long and things have gone sour.

I like Seggy but the raps on Brailey seem to be massive. Just seems like a better fit signing Farah given where he is in his career.

True mate but I believe the raps on Lichaa were massive too and we know how that turned out.

In your head, rent free
i reckon farah would be out with a massive point to prove

1 year deal with the second year in our favour depending on braileys development is an easy no brainer

Raps on Bird were massive and we know how he's turning out. Sometimes you have to take a punt, the great players have to start somewhere.

Only problem with players with such a massive point to prove, is it can become all about them. We need a hooker to do his job, not try be a super star and ruin the team strategy. Benji comes to mind.....

Benji is **** playing in a **** team. I would be looking at Farah as a conduit to getting Brailey ready, that is all.

God it'd feel weird having Farah here..

But I'm sure after a game or two we'd all be massive fans of the bloke. He is loved by Tiges fans for a reason.

But in the same breath, no. I'd rather Nu Brown come into the side and rebuild from there-I love the kid.

After we win the premiership this year I won't care about the next decade anyway.
Exactly. Look at the difference to the side once we got a decent hooker. He needs to be replaced next year and the success the side has had this year can be repeated.

The premiership window next will likely close with the loss of Ennis unless we sign Farah. I think it is unlikely Brown of Sherrington will get anywhere near the on field value of Ennis.

Can we all agree that he is a f.wit though.

I wasn't Ennis' biggest fan but at least he seemed like a decent bloke off the the field.

Farah just seems like a self-righteous porkchop.

Isn't he? I don't see Cowboys winning the comp without him. Same as I don't see them winning it without Thurston who is undoubtedly a "super star".

He fits very well for them. They've got their brainstrust and organiser at halfback. They've got seasoned, representative front-rowers who know their job and do it well. Granville fits perfect to get sets rolling with his speed out of dummyhalf.

This makes no sense, mate.

It worked once, best not try it again?

Hookers seem best over 25 but because arguably the best ever and one other bloke were good early (one who has dropped off and wasn't apart of his team's GF win) and another guy won a comp at 23 is reason enough to bank on another 23yr old?

None of that relates whatsoever to Farrah.
Ballin, Friend, Smith, Luke, Payne, Farah, Aitken all played gf's under 24 years of age. It totally relates to Farah. Most gf playing hookers in the last decade were developed at that club, not parachuted in late in their careers, and most gf playing hookers have been capable at that level from a young age, despite the fact forwards broadly are better as they get older. So, if we want a hooker good enough to win us a title next year, he can be young right now, replicating the success we've had with Ennis, is historically difficult.

I'm a big believer in the Club developing it's own stars for a number of reasons and generally think the goal should be an average of about 3 graduating into the top squad per year. But one thing I've learnt over the last few years is that given the complete freedom with NRL signings (I.e. no trade/draft restrictions) the best option is usually the most simple one: get the best player you can afford. You can always release him 12 months down the line if you suddenly have a better option and someone will bite. There's a bias against older players which means they're often better value for money than the more saleable fresh young thing.

But in this case the best player and the best fit for our team is clearly the old guy. I've never really understood the Farah hate. He's a wonderful player. Taylor wants to move him on because his style of play - taking a step or two out if DH before passing, and especially drifting across field in the attacking 22 - cuts down the time and space that his talented young halves and fullback get wider out. He wants a Jake Friend style hooker and Farah isn't that.

But that same aspect of Farah's game - the getting out if DH and becoming the first ballplayer - is exactly what Flanagan returned to Ennis' game when he came here. At the Dogs he was making 50 tackles a match and just farming the ball out. With us he's running and kicking and dictating the play. That's Farah's go too and to be honest, he's always been more skillful at it than Mick.

I won't be devastated if we don't get him because there's a couple of options out there and I rate some of our kids.

From what I've seen of Farah at origin level in the last few years, he stifles the halves and often takes the wrong option. Tries his heart out, but doesn't seem to be winning much since the Tigers won the gf.

Do you like Gallen?

Like Ennis, I don't mind Gal off the field. I can see why other people don't like him though.

if I'm completely honest. No I don't like Gal. He's a dick. But he offers more to the team than what Farah will so I can forgive his dick-ness.

Valid comment, but to be fair to the guy he is playing against some pretty decent opposition in those games.
