BREAKING NEWS FROM THE OTHER FORUMs GUN :

The reasoning Ben Hampton is not mentioned in our discussions is because he is absolute ****.
Been told that the Roosters cant get near our offer and that they are leaning towards Hastings and Pearce now.

I think Maloney and Townsend will be a strong, solid combination giving us a very, very good kicking game and a reliable passing game.
Defense is an issue, but whatever, we have had a half back for 4 years whose best footballing trait is tackling and it has us no where so this will be a breath of fresh air.

If the Warriors pick up Nightingale, we could walk away with one or more outside backs from them.

Its like the warriors are trying to sign up the international team (Nightingale, TVS and Issac Luke). Smart move if all the boys are tight and will make the international game much stronger if these lads are playing together every week.

I cant seeing Nightingale leaving Dragons.

Not so sure about that. I've heard from a fairly reliable source that the Dragons are nowhere near the Warriors' offer and they have no intention of raising their bid. He doesn't want to leave but apparently the offer is too good to knock back.

With Sezer going to Canberra you would think Williams and Cornish will be keen to move on.

God I wish we nabbed Sezer!

The two bolded bits don't really go hand-in-hand. The NRL covers every Club's salary cap through the grant, so as far as that goes we're no poorer or richer than any other Club.

Coaching staff however aren't covered by any grant and this is where a Club's finances can set it apart from others.

So really since we're a poor Club its more likely we can't afford that gun halves coach and other staff to develop these young prospects to the levels other Clubs can, so we use our $7-odd million on buying a more finished product.
I'm across that, but I'm guessing a good halves coach is not 750k a season? And the cap doesn't include third parties and all round perks from big clubs. I good halves coach can contribute a lot to every half in the club probably at the price of your average second rower.

I know the salary of coaches can't come from the cap, but you have to wonder if we can't find a spare 200k a year for a halves coach. It doesn't have to be Andrew Johns.

I really like Sam Williams. I think he is hitting his straps as a half. He was a gun when he started. Went off the boil at the Dragons, but I think he is realising his potential. Would be a good signing.

Well as the president of the Sam Williams fan club I am expecting a post or a endorsement from AB Shark.

On a serious note, I never rated him too highly to be honest but in the games I have seen him play I don't mind what he has been doing.

Was speaking to someone who knows dykes and he is well aware we don't have any halves that are capable kickers.

Assuming we have Chad (has it been made official?) who would be your choice to partner him next year, taking salary into account as well?

Maloney
Sandow
Cornish*
Williams*

*I'm assuming it would be possible to get one of these two given Canberra will have Sezer and Austin in the halves next year.

Depends how much they cost HB.

We all know Flanno is the bargainiser and that's not such a bad thing.

I'd rather jag Sandow at 300k than Maloney at 850k

If Sandow costed more and Maloney less I'd start leaning more toward Maloney.

Mason Lino . good halfback ,good goal kicker also , he would run rings around anything or one we have at the moment , would be a reasonable price , watched the same game against the Roos , got the ball out to his backs real quick and he can defend.

The point of doing that though is so that you can pay overs for players in more critical positions if necessary. We should be able to afford a Maloney at 850k.
