If anybody has involvement with the club can they get them to check a couple things.
Strength of hamstrings in relationship to quadriceps muscles.
Length of hamstrings. Are they flexible enough, too flexible? (they are both issues)
Are glute muscles activating properly.
I would assume the club would be onto those, but may not be.
The thing they may not be onto is involvement of the sacroiliac joint.
There isn't much out on this that i am aware of but a mate of mine is doing a PhD on lower limb injuries (we work in the same field) and he has found that an AFL player (i cant say who and at what club) who is part of his study who has repeat hamstring tears has insufficienct force closure of the SIJ joint (sacroiliac joint). When his lower back is very strong (preseason, he is fine) as the season goes on strength training isn''t as large of a focus and then it becomes unstable again, lots of players will lose a couple kg as the season goes on as well (a lot of muscle). In this case it is always at the time when he re-tears his hamstring. This is definitely something that needs to be looked at and monitored if it appears to be an issue along with the other things mentioned above.
