I'd love to know Robson's win percentage for the Sharks in games with Carney.

25 games, won 5, lost 20. 20% win record without Carney (Which is actually better than I thought it would be).

As usual I'm a bit of a fence sitter on the Carney subject. Yes, if he didn't get up to mischeif, kept totally injury free and gave this side it's much needed spark then I would have no problems in having him back.
Unfortunately, I don't see any of those things happening.

I guess if he didn't get up to mischief he would never have left the Raiders and would never have played for the Roosters or us.

What is actually the difference?

Carney was playing like a halfback for basically the whole time he was here. He's getting older and slower but his skills are just as good. Theres literally no difference in two numbers anymore and it makes SO much more sense to have 7. carney 6. barbs 1. holmes.

Like how could you think anything else is beyond me lol

A lot of teams play that way - left & right halves - at least outside their 20. I personally hate it it. Especially when I see a bloke like Milford restrained to the left. Halves need to connect at times in the opp. 20.

Do you think Thurston plays any differently playing at 6 as opposed to 7?

I do actually. Not as a result of the number on his back, thats a distraction. But when he plays 1st receiver better things happen for the Cowboys.

we need Carney (fullstop) .

Rubbish. He's not commited to change anything off-field and as such he'll never be 100% on-field. Little grot can rott IMO.

I guess if he didn't get up to mischief he would never have left the Raiders and would never have played for the Roosters or us.

If, if, if ... Bugger him. The Raiders laid out a good plan which would of seen that kid go far, but he knocked it back and he's said he'll knock back any booze ban but still expects a NRL gig. Faaaark off. You're 28 at best 4yrs left - ditch the piss, make a bit more and piss it away between 32 & 40 if you please. Just don't be referred to as "former Cronulla bad boy" on A Current Affair.

What are the other forum saying egg?

Saying Carney believes he was hard done by but open to coming back under his conditions .
Feels we're to boring and change is required
Alll player's would have to cut their hair short and dye it blonde .
All players would have to take up indian guru practices of drinking their own body wastes .
He wants to play fullback because 5/8 means tackling occasionally .
Won't go to Manly because Eagles and him don't get along .

Hey CP, I agree with you. My post was referring to Chad's and my point being was that IF he didn't get up to mischief then he would never have left the Raiders to begin with, but he isn't capable of not getting up to mischief. Hence his current situation.

now id have him back purely because of the talent he has on the field. He was a favourite of mine from his canberra days. He's always been good, he hasnt just had good periods of time. Every season he has played he has been good, even when he hasnt been on fire. From memory 2011 was his worst season, but i think after the dally m and a gf appearance expectations rose.

But your last paragraph there does sum it up. When he was at the Raiders and he had been in a **** load of trouble, they were open to keeping him, but he had to not drink. He refused that contract and condition. Refused. They were going to pay him a lot down there. Went to the sticks to play bush footy for a year, came to the roosters and tore the house down. Full season with no issues, Dally M. Probably got on the piss, but by all reports never got himself in trouble. 2011, gets done low range DUI, seemed to me like an honest mistake, thought mistakes like that happen to TC a bit. He gets injured, goes out for a few drinks with Watts. Watts goes home and lays down the law with his missus, Carney is the head line for being out having a drink. By end of season he is sacked and Roosters fans are hating him. 2012 comes he fires up, we start off well (after 2 losses) and Carney makes Origin, game 3 highlight, kicking a sideline conversion to level it up. 2013, he misses 4 (say 5 since he went off injured early) games, is like a point shy of a 2nd Dally M. Imagine if he didnt get injured!! Again, probably his 2nd best season compared to 2010, stays out of the press for dumb ****, except for the coke rumours. 2014 starts finding the old carney and being published as a menace. kind of involved in an altercation (outside maccas), rumours of a woman approaching the club about some inappropriate behaviour by todd, and then in the end the bubbler.
Should a guy be sacked for that? no
Should Todd be sacked for that? yes.
Why? Todd comes with that reputation, with everything the club went through, he brought another bad headline. It was stupid. Thats all it was. But it comes down to him drinking.

He has a huge rap sheet, a few DUI, the bubbler, pissing on a guy, setting a bloke on fire, vandalism, running from the cops, failure to stop when signalled, a few times drinking while on a club booze ban. **** he was banned from him home town!!! yet this guy still refuses to sign contracts stating no grog! How many millions of dollars has Todd Carney lost for alcohol. He will never make those millions back, but he can always drink when he is retired.

Yep it's amazing how stubborn people can be. We placed an electrical apprentice just before Xmas and when he came to us he had those silly round earrings in his ears. We advised him to take them out for his interview as the boss we were sending him to was old school and wouldn't have stood for it. The kid kicked up a bit of a stink but eventually took them out.

He got the job and started work but we've found out that when the big boss is away he puts the earrings back in. WTF for? Does he think the boss is stupid? Does he think the boss won't find out? One of my colleagues counselled him yesterday and told him to keep them out on the job. Our client is perfectly within his rights to request him not wear the earrings as he comes into contact with the public.

But the kids attitude stinks. He said to us, "You can't sack me for that!" He's right we can't. But the client can hand him back to us no questions asked because he's still in probation. And we'd find it difficult getting another job for him.

You can give a kid skills, you can supply him with the experience he needs but you can't coach attitude. You've either got it or you haven't.

Tell that kid that "you're stuck in the '90's man."

Our reputation is already in the toilet and we are unsuccessful at the moment.

Carney will help with one of those things at least

yes, but as stated, we could end up having to fork out a release fee from catalans regardless, which if he goes to another club that club will negotiate and we get sent the bill. How do you think that negotiation will go? Catalans....we want a mil to release him.....Manly, no problem we arent paying anyway.

Then the NRL bends us over and declares it part of our salary cap
