SEZER SUSPENDS CONTRACT TALKS WITH TITANS
DAILY TELEGRAPH – MARCH 25, 2015
AIDAN SEZER, DALY CHERRY-EVANS, GOLD COAST TITANS, KANE ELGEY, NEWS
Aidan Sezer

Aidan Sezer has suspended contract talks with the Titans in a move that could open the door for Kane Elgey to partner Daly Cherry-Evans at the Gold Coast scrumbase next season.

Elgey has the chance to showcase his potential when the playmaking young gun makes his NRL debut alongside Sezer against Cronulla this Saturday at Remondis Stadium.

Elgey remains off-contract at season's end, but Sezer's decision to delay negotiations amid interest from an NRL rival has thrown the race to partner Titans-bound Cherry-Evans wide open.

Sezer is favoured to oust Elgey and Mortimer for the Titans' No. 6 jumper next season, but the Coast now face competition to retain the former Indigenous All Stars pivot.

lol Mortimer wouldn't be that bad as a number 6 behind a DCE, just don't let him kick and let him defend an edge making 30 tackles a game to compensate for Dave Taylor's bludging. Like a quicker Robbo that knows his place.

Surely they won't be able to offer Sezer decent coin just to play second fiddle... Right?

I have been to the future. Barba ends up killing it at 6. Sezer joins the Sharks and plays halfback. Sharks win two premierships in the next 5 years! Good times ahead!

I had a wake up call the other day. I told my kids that they don't have to be Sharks supporters if they don't want to because they will only have a life of frustration. I then heard my words and realised how pathetic we have all become. We expect failure and so that is what we get. So I have made a decision to be positive about this club.

Nothing wrong with that - maybe positive thinking by the entire collective shark population will turn things around.

Its not a theory I subscribe to but its not one that should be ridiculed.

Have seen Elgey play. Very smart player. Has a good kicking game, takes the line and reads the game. Very smart.

Will be interested to see how he goes with the big boys though.

Rumour in the Fairfax press that the GC are after Norman to pair with Cherry-Evans (which would be a good move for both to be honest).

Anyway that leaves Elgey and Sezer unattached. I think we'll struggle to shift anyone who is wanted by their Club but we're a good chance at anyone who is unattached.

On Sezer - there have been rumours since mid last year that he was keen to come back to Sydney. I reckon he told the Club a while back that he would leave and they've acted accordingly... I wonder if he's got a destination lined up.
