Personally the way I see it, it was rather dicey with the Titans. DCE appeared to be heading our way till the NRL stepped in and gave stability to the Titans club that was on shakey ground. If they had not stepped in and offered the security and stability then DCE would not of signed there, surely he would of seen himself that they were all over the place and it was a better option to go elsewhere. The NRL propped them back up rather quickly.

Yes they help other teams also, Knights etc. Which is good to a point. But with DCE - Titans etc they got in there rather quickly.

End of the day we didn't get his signature, club put in a good bid and now it is time to move onto finding someone else to fill that position and get on with things.

Yeah but the titans are getting favours.......
When we had financial woes it was widely reported that players wouldn't sign because they were concerned about contracts being honoured. If the RLPA agreement is always honoured by the NRL why would he need assurances?
He is going to get paid no matter what yeah? If it fell through , great, he gets paid out and another club snaps him up.
I think there is a lot more to it than we know.

Why was he coming here? Because of rumours? Because someone said he will?

The stability helped get him yes, but they had put that offer out already. Those guarantees could have come AFTER orr called the nrl/titans to find out whats happening. The guarantee was that the deal would stand. The honouring of finances is a league wide agreement. So basically if a club goes under and shuts the doors, the nrl will pay the players out. This came from poor financial teams like the cronulla sharks creating this uncertainty among managers/players.

The nrl did not save the titans so they could get dce, there is not a conspiracy. Dce is a money hungry wimp. He had a better chance of success staying in manly.

I dont think that collective bargaining agreement had been made at that point. i could be totally wrong but i think a lot of these things came along with the transfer of the nrl to its own governing body (not run by news ltd)

Are we still talking about DCE and conspiracy theories?...

He didn't want to come here to play with his best mate on a rich contract, he wanted a little bit extra cash to go to a ****hole of club with no culture and no playing group.

Get over it.

Take your sharkie goggles off aswel and you'll see we are also a **** hole of a club and have been for a longgg time . Things might be on the way up but it'll take time. Plus we have been the most boring club to watch for a decade now, it's why it's hard to get good backs or halves unless they're rejects like barba and Carney

Jeez way to support your club. Great supporter, mate.

Whilst the club has had many issues, things are in fact on the way up, as you mentioned. With the way the club is being handled at the moment they are poised to possibly be one of the most financially sound clubs going, and with that can attract some key players.

Carney was a good signing, good on Cronulla for giving him a chance. It didn't work out, but was well worth taking a shot. Dunno what you have against Barba. Wasn't given much of a chance in Brisbane. Dial it back til you see him play in our colours for a few rounds.

By the way, Knights are the most boring club to watch, along with the Broncos.

You forgot the sixth largest city in Aus with one of the the biggest drug problems as well as unemployment problem in QLD probably Australia add to that approx 35-40% are retired/pensioners etc and the NRL wonders why no one heads to the stadium to watch?

Oh I should add transport is a C word as well.

But You can under achieve on the Gold Coast and its OK just look at Douglas lol,

Take the money and enjoy it DCE I would.

Maloney would be a better value buy than DCE...... As long as Cronulla can prove it is going places and can play expansive creative football that is well thought out and structured

There is a reason all players that come to this club get ''cronullafied'', that reason is the coach.

While this guy is still coach we will never ever play ''expansive creative football that is well thought out and structured''.

Time for people to wake up and face reality, we are going nowhere for the next 3 years.

I hope you are wrong. I think if we can control the football and stop making simple errors we can go well.
