When we are defending on our line and Sam Burgess is winding up I would rather Robbo than any other halfback. His D is better than almost any other 7 and he will organise and get a decent backline moving. We just haven't had one for years. We do now. Watch him look like a champ in the first few games.

Let me explain how you are actually agreeing with me...
We are saying the same thing - either the team's star player is their half, who makes those around him look even better, or a solid workman half can look good due to game winners in his (or her...) side. A number of those halves you've mentioned have looked pretty ordinary as their teams form fluctuated, and haven't been able to singlehandedly turn that around.
