This being a forum, i feel okay with respectfully disagreeing with you. I don't believe the number 7 is there to win you games in the way you suggest, especially as most teams split their halves and have them run separate sides of the field. Ican't believe I'm saying this, but my ideal number 7 was pretty much represented by the 2014 model Mitchell Pearce. The 7's job should be to organise the teams attack by identifying the best attacking opportunity at at given time. Whether that's a long kick for good field position, short side raid, run on the 5th or a dribble into the in goal for a repeat set.

I think robbos problem was he needed to organise too much of the play. This season, Ennis will take over running the general play so the halves can get the attack ready. and there's plenty of talent to score points,it's just a matter of getting better opportunities. It's going to be a very different team this year, more controlled and primed, with or without Robbo.
robbo fails in all of those areas

You disagree but then say your ideal number 7 is a bloke who is 100 times better then Robson?

Some of Pearce's stats were
9th for Try Assists
3rd for Linebreak Assists
7th for kick metres
50th for Linebreaks
50th for tries

Saying halves are not there to win games is not correct. Halves lead all the attacking stats they setup the tries they kick for field position it is what they are there for splitting them up to different sides of the fields does not change that.

The top ten try assists - or you know the things that win you the games - 7 are playmakers 3 are fullbacks. Of the 7, 5 were halfbacks.

watch out david middleton, we have a new stats guru.

Yeah.

His long kicking game sucks, but he isn't half as bad as this forum would have you believe.
Exactly. His bad games are always the ones where he is required to do the long kicking. I miss Pom, atleast all the criticism he copped was warranted.

Hamsy you can't assess Robbo on 2014. Robbo is a pie maker and we asked him to handle fine dining last year. His role in the team is not achievable without Carney or a player like him.

I don't rate him but a fair assessment would be his stats in 2013. Don't get me wrong below would be my half starting order for next year...

So you agree with me - he is average and would not be first grade at any other club?

People say its not his fault cos he needs a carney type player next to him or is required to kick etc. He's a halfback, he shouldn't need anyone to carry him and should be able to kick.

Not good enough.

He's a halfback, isn't he? How awful of us to expect a halfback to be able to kick long. Who is going to kick long for us in 2015? Ennis can do a bit, who else?

Robbo would also be one of the cheapest halfbacks in the comp.

That is probably true, but it still doesn't make him good dollar value. If he was put on the open market irrespective of cost he wouln,t get run over in the stampede to buy.

And I believe he would not get a start in any other NRL team.

It was also not good enough we paid $650,000 for a player who needed a jeff robson type player to get the best out of him (which we saw on only 2 occassions in 2014).

If robbo had have left in 2012, who would have we started
Last season with?
Holdswirth? I can't rember I see 6&7 and even 9 as their own team, the 2014 version of a unfocused Todd and robbo Morris / de degois was pedestrian at best. Here is hoping barbie robbo and mick E get it done!!
