Well unless his contract is up or St George are happy to pay some of it, we'd be paying around 400k or more

Would be very happy to have him for 400k.

He won't be cheap but nor should he be, in the top half of wingers in the NRL.

Yep agree. I also think he's the type of winger that could play on to 33-34 at close to his best. Not the type of player who relies on speed. He'd be a great pick up imo.

For once our wingers actually aren't a problem. We should be worrying about halves instead of a ageing expensive winger.

I get what you are saying about his price but he is quality plus by not signing a quality winger doesn't ensure that a top half suddenly becomes available.

We might as well tie up one of our problem positions while we have the opportunity (although the last half if season see'd this on the improve) who knows what Nu is going to develop like in the next 12 months plus we reportedly have a very good half coming through the ranks.

In your head, rent free
i love this forum... dead set, we have **** loads of cash to spend, and when we find someone who instantly makes our team better we decide he is too expensive

nightingale has scored tries with good halves and **** halves, because he is just about the most complete winger in the nrl

if he wanted 300-400k i would pay it, beggers cant be choosers, and i would like some **** to score more than 10 tries in a season for once

Spot on. Cant improve positions without spending money. If people wanna spend 200k on a winger we'll get another john williams

Don't agree at all that he's worth 400k. I'd much prefer the club persists with someone like Gagan or Holmes on the wing, and I don't think the opportunity would be there if we get Nightingale.

I also don't have faith the coaching staff would select them in front of Mitch Brown for a remaining backline spot either.

Mitch Brown is irrelevant when talking about signing someone with the class of Nightingale. He absolutely is worth 400k imo.

Don't think that was what he was getting at..

Yeah it was. He's saying Brown will get a spot ahead of some youngsters. So signing Nightingale would mean one less spot again. That's how I read it anyway.

Silly reason not to pursue someone of Nightingale's class.

I disagree. Someone like Gagan or Holmes could be top class players for us for 10 years or more. I'd like to see them get that chance to develop. In the long run that would be very beneficial for our club.

Now nabbing someone like Nightingale, who has maybe 3 or 4 good years left, decreases the chance of that happening. Taking his age, price and ability into account, I don't think he's worth it. Just my opinion of course.

That's cool, Fozzy, you're obviously entitled to your opinion like everyone else.

Mitch Brown SHOULD be depth only. He's solid and can get a job done but there's nothing flash about him. Better option as depth than the likes of Stapo that's for sure.

Flash will be in his final year of this contract next season.

There are plenty of opportunities there for Gagan and Holmes to cement a first grade spot.

I'm very happy to have Mitch Brown on for depth but have no confidence in Flanno that he'll actually be used as depth. Same as Jono Wright.

I actually think we have some very strong backline options but have no faith that we can actually develop them though. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

After the top line there you can say whatever you want :p

Btw, I was also a big fan of Camp a few years ago.
Long day, misread what fozzy had written. Wonder how campos career would have panned out if injuries didn't hit him so hard.

Anyway back to topic.. nightingale - would love him in a sharks jersey but can't see it happening.
