Apparently Melbourne have offered Munster a 2 year extension at 800k. Honestly the first bad bit of business I think I've ever seen them do. If they didn't intend to pay munster his worth they should have kept Hynes.

I'd give Munster a mil per year over 4 years. Will take him to 32 and win us a comp.

I don’t rate him from what I’ve seen at Cows but maybe he just needs a change of scenery

800k is still very good money when you consider he’s in a awesome & successful set up.
It is crazy to think though he’s getting paid 800k from Storm & the Cows are apparently paying Chad 800-850k a season.

It is, but when you have the runs on the board as a big game winner, have won multiple comps and done it all... I ca t imagine it would feel great to have the supporting cast paid more. This is also likely his last big contract plus Bellamy may be gone. I see lots of reasons why he would leave.

I still call bullshit on Chad being on that much.

Anyway, Munster here would be amazing but do we then become top heavy in the halves? Nicho is cheap now but I reckon he gets an upgrade if he keeps going at this rate.

Also, if Munster comes he will most definetely want to be the top dog. How will that effect Nicho? I think I am happy for Fitzy to develop players (or transfer potentials and develop them). If we can get Drinky or someone else half that price and use the rest of the funds somewhere else, that may be a better option.

Better yet, just wait and see how Trindall fares.

If it were for next year and Moyza was gone I think it'd work

SHARKS CLOSE TO LOCKING IN BACKROW STAR

The Cronulla Sharks are inching closer to landing the signature of backrower Briton Nikora.

Despite arch-rivals St George Illawarra and Wests Tigers showing interest, Nikora’s negotiations are progressing reasonably well with the Kiwi Test forward having started the season in cracking form.

The Sharks have got a huge soirée planned to celebrate hard-working front rower Aiden Tolman reaching the milestone of 300 games against Newcastle on Friday night.

In further proof nice guys don’t always finish last, Tolman will chalk up the milestone in front of what’s expected to be a sold-out Shark Park playing for his third NRL club.

When new Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon signed on to take the head coaching position at Cronulla last year, re-signing Tolman was one of his first moves.

The unsung forward, 33, has played in grand finals with Melbourne Storm and Canterbury-Bankstown and is one of the NRL’s most reliable forwards.
TIGERS SET TO GO ALL IN FOR NIKORA

The Wests Tigers will reportedly go after Sharks backrower Briton Nikora in an attempt to add some star power to their squad.

The 24-year-old New Zealand international is off-contract at the end of the 2022 season and his situation is being monitored by Maguire’s men after a strong start to the season under Craig Fitzgibbon.

“Now Briton Nikora is an interesting one... Nikora is the one attracting serious attention, he is a Kiwi international,” The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio said on NRL tonight.

“Strong backrower, young up and coming talent, I am hearing the Wests Tigers are going to go all out to try and get Briton Nikora.

“The Sharks have made it clear that they want to keep their man too and I expect Nikora to give that serious consideration considering the way Fitzgibbon is rebuilding this team.

“You can see the green shots at the Sharks, with clear skies coming and Nikora will know that, however as I said I believe the Tigers will make a big play.”
TIGERS LINKED TO SECOND SHARKS FORWARD

The Tigers have been linked with making a play for Sharks forward Franklin Pele to join the club in 2023.

WWOS’ The Mole reported the 21-year-old is in the Tigers’ sights with the middle forward yet to be re-signed by the Sharks beyond 2022.

Pele debuted for the Sharks in Round 12 last season, which is his only first grade game to date.

The Sharks boast a lot of depth in the front row with Pele behind veterans Andrew Fifita and Aiden Tolman, but those two are also off-contract this season.

Standing at 191 centimetres tall and 121 kilograms, it is unsurprising that Pele is on the radar of rival NRL clubs, despite his lack of first grade experience.

The Tigers are also interested in Sharks second-rower Briton Nikora, who is being chased by a number of NRL clubs for 2023, including the Eels.
The Tigers have invested in Stefano Utoikamanu, but there other middle forwards Alex Twal, James Tamou, Thomas Mikaele, Joe Ofahengaue and Zane Musgrove have struggled at times for consistency.

If I’m a player like Nikora who’s young and close to my prime, I’m wanting an extra 30% on my contract to go to the Tigers, probably more. You couldn’t want to be a part of what they are atm.
