Dymock Replacement ?
None are strong creators of defence are they ?
Hope they don't pick Griffin , they'll ALL fall to sleep
SOURCE : Reddit

Rookie Titans coach Justin Holbrook has made his first significant signing by appointing Jimmy Dymock as his assistant coach.

Dymock, who has spent the past two seasons at Cronulla, will join the Gold Coast on a three-year deal.

The former Test star has a relationship with Holbrook which dates back to their days together playing for Canterbury.

While he has forged the majority of his post-playing career as an assistant, Dymock’s coaching resume includes two stints as the interim coach of the Bulldogs and the Sharks.

He has also coached Tonga.

As a result of Dymock’s departure, the Sharks are now on the hunt for a replacement to assist John Morris at the Sharks in 2020.

While former head coach Shane Flanagan is unlikely to return to the club so soon, a string of candidates to support Morris could emerge including Nathan Brown, Anthony Griffin and Garth Brennan.

Holbrook will commence his NRL coaching career when he arrives on the Gold Coast next month.

I feel sick in the guts if that is the list of potential replacements

Couldn't agree more. Brennan would be lucky to be towl boy, I have a feeling griffin's media career is about to take off haha and Brown is a ******** that doesn't know how to coach he has even stated it publicly.

Out of 3 I would take Griffin
Felt he got a raw deal at Penrith
They were top 4 and getting better didn't make sense at the time
Didn't see eye to eye with Gould
He is very old school like flanno
Could be the balance we need

Or we could get a female assistant coach. Someone like Ita Buttrose or Dame Edna. There's no way they could kick us out of the comp then.

Speaking to a mate of mine who's a big Panthers supporter he feels Griffin is good with bringing though juniors but big on Fitness and discipline. He can't believe how unfit the team is this year under Cleary compared to when Griffin coached. He's not saying Griffin is not without faults but think he'll be a good assistant coach.

I think he'll make a good assistant, plus he's an experienced head coach who's not long out of the game. And I also don't know how realistically he is of getting another head coaching gig (aside from internally moving up) so having some consistency will be good.

And very different being a head coach to an assistant coach.

yeh i'd be happy with hook - it also gets him off the tv - **** me he is a boring old bitty

His voice just puts you to sleep, sounds like he knows what he's talking about but damn that voice.

And it might not get him off TV, no reason he can't be an AC and still do the occasional TV or Radio segment. Heaps of others with equal or greater obligations do it - Gus when he was at the Panthers, Gal and other current players.

Well we have a lot of juniors coming through and definitely had a few players struggle with fitness and discipline!

I also thought he got shafted pretty hard to get dropped when his team was going well (obviously to bring Cleary in). Just don't let him provide the motivational speeches (boring AF) or the game plan (oversimplified)

They need a hard arse who wont cop egos from the players. Hook would be a great foil for Morris. Gets my vote.

No to Nathan brown......too much of a lad!
