Do you use it to buy an NRL starting ball playing fullback from somewhere?
Best bet would have been to over pay to pinch Pap or Hughes if Melbourne hadn't dropped Croft this season, they did in the end so it becomes much less viable.

Papenhuyzen is not a ball playing fb. Never has been. Melbourne can get away with it because they have so many other ball players, and not just in conventional positions (e.g. Finucane, Kenny Bromwich). Same with CNK at Canberra (their 11 and 12 can ball play, and Hodgson plays a bit of lock)

It's also the reason why AJ Brimson hasn't been successful at fb. He and Papenhuyzen have been comparable players at every other level (junior, rep, Q Cup) but the GC don't have the ball playing across the park to compensate. Their 7 was garbage and their forwards are all just battering rams.

If you want to succeed with that type of FB you need to have more Graham/Magoulias/Wilton type forwards and less Uele/Williams/Bukuya type ones. The Sharks this year were built to play with a ball playing fullback but were forced to play without one.

like hell the broncos would do that

they are just going to chase holmes themselves

true but at the end of the day there is no guarantee Holmes comes back yet..

they 100% need a fullback and a five eighth - we probably have the best of either option available right now to offer.

In your head, rent free
also, the lurker didnt mention it at all

David Todd: Any forwards on their way to Redfern in 2020? I've heard Teig Wilton's name mentioned

The Lurker: Hi Dave, Teig is your best hope although Sharks have him under contract for another year

If even the Lurker doesn't think it's a sure thing then it must be a long way off happening.

Lurker reporting wilton in talks with the rabbitohs. Isn't he regarded highly in our juniors?

20s Player, watched him down here V ThunderBolts. Pretty Good player, playing for Newtown now. Sth Coast Jnr, Sharks supporter as kid. Was looking for height and weight, but not recorded anywhere. Guessing 6ft 2 1/2 98kgs???

Coming out of junior McCullough was considered one of the best junior players ever. He just never managed to transition that into become a star in Fg. I guess Brisbane must have just figured he needed time but he never got there. Solid NRL player but never became a difference maker.

What is it with highly rated junior hookers and just not kicking on!

burgess heart might shatter

It just might. I would have felt the same way if Xerri had been poached this time last year. I have been closely following Wilton, Mulitalo, Brailey and Xerri for a while now and would have been pretty annoyed if we lost any of them.

They were very different style players though. Lichaa was really just a scooter and the game moved away from that type of 9. I didn’t rate him back then and wasn’t really that upset to lose him.

McCullough was a 6 who transitioned to 9 and should have been more successful given the way the game went. If he had become available on the market at 21 there would have been 15 teams lined up thinking they could turn him in to a star.
