The Manly Sea Eagles intend to strike back at the Gold Coast should Daly Cherry-Evans join the Titans by targeting under 20s player of the year Kane Elgey.

The Gold Coast has tabled Cherry-Evans a $3 million three-year deal, with the Manly playmaker expected to announce his future any day.

But the Sea Eagles intend to retaliate at the Titans, attempting to poach the rookie halfback who won last year’s under 20s player of the year award despite the Gold Coast finishing second last.

Should Manly lose both halves, the club will be forced to target the likes of Elgey, James Maloney, Michael Morgan and Trent Hodkinson.

Any club actually getting DCE would react to Manly threats (to poach what would become their back-up half behind DCE) like that with "Poach away guys!"

Agree, it wasn't just the bubbling act in of itself but all the preceding crap combined that was swept under the rug

The upside is that it has given us a chance to get DCE but Carney was an on/off type player IMO and had as many shockers as blinders

He has the longest list of off field incidents other than the hopoates. And then theres the ones u didnt hear about.

The first time I saw Carney and heard a bit about him from people in Canberra, he looked and sounded like trouble.

Sometimes first impressions are correct , he will never change , his antics will be brushed under the carpet in France, like many of them were here.

I disagree, the more competent halves the merrier. 2 and a half years age difference between Tracey and Elgey for instance, that's a long time for a 20yr old. Elgey can play.

But whatever, we need a finished product more.

Nah loved his 1st couple of years, then started caring about him as much as he started caring about the Sharks, which wasn't much, no one player is bigger than the club and to be acting a fool on the piss during arguably our darkest hour really left a bad taste in my mouth... Similar to his

More options we have the more chance of one coming good. Wasn't suggesting he should be our first back up to dce, but maybe an option if we miss out on the lot.
