"Grab a granny" is what we call the over 28's discotheque scene... Looked like I was heading that way in my late 20 early 30's had started shopping around for a safari suit so I would fit in... Then low and behold snagged a youngen...

If thats what they called the over 28's , what did they call the over 35's ?

When I was a youngster it was called getting your Boiler's Licence if she was twice your age.

Big Marty Bella dropped the kick-off from memory. Was never going to be there day from that point on.

My enduring memory of Marty Bella.

me and my mates went to an over 50s singles night once. His mum thought we musta been desperate, but had more jokes about it when we came home empty handed...

Overseas i can handle. I think that really is the noble way to go out in league these days. Unless you retire a grand final winner.

I think once your body goes beyond that point, you will only hinder your team. If Gal is confident he can get a season in with good fitness, but plans on going over seas after, it says to me he knows he wont be able to play NRL level beyond 2016. So im happy he isnt pushing for 2017 or something.

However a lot can change in 2 years, i reckon 2016 will be his last season period

We won a lower grade comp in about 1976 (Reserve Grade I think) and also BOTH lower grades in same year mid 90s (when Peachey and Nathan Long and Ritson all came through together).

Was that around the time Nick Graham and Triester came through? not sure they may have been a bit before them.

Especially if we win the 2016 premiership! Could Gal be pushing to play in 2016 because he knows DCE is coming on board?

I dont think so. I think he will get a good pay cheque out of us for the swan song.

To be honest I cant recall all the players in the two lower grade teams that won those titles, however I DO have a cassette tape (that's what we used to record TV shows back in the old days) of both games somewhere around the place. One day I'll find it and relive past glories ! LOL.

I THINK Nick Graham was a little earlier and probably already in First Grade by then, and while, believe it or not, I was actually a personal sponsor of Dean Treister via my business I can't place a year on when that was (and he was definitely in Firsts at that stage). Very nice guy.

I remember watching those victories. The games were played Grand Final Day in the lead up to the main game.

I was thinking at the time that we'd be in the main game in a couple of years, what a wealth of talent we had coming through, and they knew each other's games so well.

They lost a member of their team around then too. From memory it was a car accident in the driveway, failed handbrake or something like that. Terribly sad. The team all got his name tattooed.

Whats the talk DCE going to titans, on 1 mill a season. Wasn't it only last year they were asking Nrl for money?
As well as not having a Front Jersey sponsor!
I know in our time of financial hardship we were not able to sign blokes in excess of 1 million bucks.
