Doubt it.

I'm pretty sure over the years at least Parra and Manly have been very interested in his services.

If Watmough can get a good 3yr deal at almost 32 then I got no doubt if Gal went on the open market he'd attract a lot of interest.

I'm sure he would. But the salary cap being what it is, I doubt many clubs could have matched what we have been paying him over the years. He's been pretty much our only decent player for a lot of it.

I don't begrudge him for it though. He's elite.

IF (and that's a big if), IF he did leave, I reckon there is every chance he would play us in ever game possible. Including trials, nines, tiddly winks etc etc
Gal would mark it down as if it was a 4th (and sometimes 5th) SOO game each year and would tear us a new one!
I'm on the "wouldn't want to see him go" band wagon.

If he were to bring his SOO win/loss record (and sharks for that matter) to each game, I'd be okay with that!

I'm hearing the newtown nsw cup agreement is becoming tricky. Apparently they only want to take 6 of our players so the club has no idea what they are going to do with the rest of our reserve graders

They probebly just don't want ayshford in their team and I can't blame them!

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA SIGN CENTRE DANE NIELSEN
SMH.COM.AU – NOVEMBER 19, 2014
DANE NIELSEN, NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS, NEWS, PLAYER MOVEMENTS, ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
Dane Nielsen

The St George Illawarra Dragons have signed former Queensland Origin centre Dane Nielsen on a two-year deal as coach Paul McGregor continues to reshape his roster.

Nielsen, who was contracted to the Warriors , will help to plug holes in the Dragons line-up left by the release of Cronulla -bound backs Gerard Beale and Kyle Stanley and Brett Morris to Canterbury .

After beginning his career at Cronulla, Nielsen established himself as one of the NRL's most promising three-quarters during a five-year stint at Melbourne . He was rewarded with Maroons jerseys in the 2008-9 series but has struggled to recapture that form since shifting across the Tasman two years ago. The 29-year-old was still contracted to the Warriors for next year, but coach Andrew McFadden granted an early release.

The Warriors, who are well stocked for centres with Konrad Hurrell , Ngani Laumape and Canberra signing Matt Allwood on their books, will likely pay a portion of Nielsen's wages for next year as part of his deal with the Red V.

Yeah ABC news said the same thing. I'm thinking they're done deals but just ironing out the contracts before announcing them. Or maybe at George weren't going to release Beale till the neilsen deal was done?

So Beale traded out, neilsen in. That's some pretty sad recruitment.

to be fair, I don't think beale is going to cause an impact so to speak, I honestly think they are waiting for him to get back into australia[/QUOTE

It appears to me that Drags may have a better team than last year and have bulked up their Forward pack. Time will tell how it pans out

Its not sad recruitment they have massive cap problems so they don't have a choice.

imo The Dragons are much worse off than last year, this going by my Dragons colleague who isn't at all pumped for the upcoming season.
