Agreed. Aslong as Ennis can produce a quality 80 I see no great gain in reducing his minutes.

This is the first time in a while where I can look at our backline and think "if we get a few injuries, we'd still be fine". The depth is finally there. Bird to 'pinch hit' in the centres when somebody goes down. Plus you've got Holmes, Brown, Samulia and Gards all waiting.

Nevermind the depth, we finally have decent starters!

Havent read back but just saw sopoaga gone to penrith. Im cool with that, bakuya bird etc sure up our edges depth

I like Sopa but he disappointed me in his stints in first grade this year - shame

I totally agree .. Ennis playing 80 minutes at no9 will make our bench a strength !! Don't waste that chance IMO
Ennis is not suited to a bench role at all IMO - he provides the team a rhythm and leadership, not short burst impacts
His best qualities are harnessed from him being out there on the field for as many minutes as possible which means 80 mins

We have him for just 2 seasons and he is professional, fit and dedicated enough to remain a 80 min player

Give the bench spot to another prop or Nu Brown so he can come on and play some 5/8 while Barba is relieved from the halves duties to roam as he pleases. There will still be plenty of games where we have to chase points and fast

I see no merit in this at all - don't fix what aint broke ffs

I'm so tired of having to cater for 2 hookers, weakening our bench.

I don't rate any player in a key position (read spine here) that can't do at least close to 80 mins
Rugby league in my opinion manages injuries very badly, because it's a tough sport there is a culture of guys wanting to give it their all every week, and that's a good thing, but the truth is, and this ain't just my opinion, when older bodies 'give their all' they often get injured. Overuse causes injuries in older athletes. Maybe Ennis is one of those old marvels that just doesn't get injured, but in the process of finding that out we could lose him for any length of time.

We didn't sign him because he could play 80, we signed him because of what he can do, even if that's only for 60. Anyway it'll be interesting to see what Flanno does seeing as he is a fan of 9's on the bench it seems, and Ennis has always played 80.

But what he can do is play 80, and what he does he does best over 80.

No one else can slack off around the ruck cause he never does and won't be backwards about telling you you're not meeting expectations. Like Cam Smith he's a bit like a coach on the field.

After all the NRL he's played I'm sure he knows his expectations and limitations and will handle it accordingly. If he says he can go 80, let him.

Would like to see Nu given a bench spot, would give good versatility with injuries and add a bit of speed against tiring defense. The problem being he would be lucky to get more then 25-30 minutes a match. He would probably be better off playing reserves for a full match?

Exactly, having to cater for 2 hookers is useless when Ennis is an 80 minute player. More opportunity to blood some young forwards to. Nu will get a chance to play first grade, for some reason I believe Robson won't be lasting the whole season.

dont neccesarily have to take ennis off to have brown come on during the last 15 for some impact.

Something like the Aussies were doing bringing Hunt on and leaving Cronk, DCE and Smith on as well, letting Hunt roam a bit between dummy half and the halves for a bit of an extra point of attack?

Does flanno have the balls to do this, though?

Yeah, with Nu Brown there definitely is an option to have him running out of dummy half for short bursts with Ennis still on the field, with the stigma involving wrestling these days the ruck might start getting quicker and might be a viable strategy against tiring forwards. But then again, having another impact and workrate prop like D. Fifita or something to play 20 or so minutes is also a thing.

Imagine a close game 15 to go and they try and bench Ennis lol, probably have more chance of getting gal off than Ennis. Going into games with a bench option to cover injuries weakens us, deal with injuries if/when they occur, plenty of smart and experience heads in the 17 capable of putting a bandaide on a issue to get us through to the end of a game.

He's already played first grade and has done a really good job in the circumstances. I don't know if I'd be happy to be rocking around at Henson park.[/QUOTE

Think you could be right, he did a very good job under tough circumstances, and 2 years at his age is a long time

We can't afford DCE surely...

Do you know how much coin Robson commands with his calming abilities? In all seriousness there might be 150-250k there. From there we just need to move gallen on or ask him to take a pay cut perhaps. Or lewis will be gone, theres another 400-450. Flash might go too. It's in the realm of possibility?
