I hope we leave nu in the squad and preferably starting. I'd take nu as the starting half over Robson. He did enough to Hold a spot. I don't want to see him sent back, he should be learning on the job.
I agree. Nu can totally be developed to play 7 in the nrl IMO. Especially with a guy like Ennis at 9. We've only seen his running game so far, but given the responsibility he seems to have the attitude and vision to become an organiser.

I'd like to see it tried, at least.

There is so much experience in our team at the moment, if there ever has been a time to introduce a young halfback, this is it.

Taga was being discussed at length in another thread. The main consensus was that he can be brilliant but not enough. Yes, he is rumoured to want out and if we have cover then I wouldn't lose sleep over him going.

He could be sensational if he really put his mind to it.

The main concusses is wrong. It's not the fact he isn't brilliant enough it's the fact he puts in no effort apart from a few games. If he was making 100metres every game with a decent tackle count everyone would want him to stay.

It's obviously an effort and attitude thing.

Nightingale was a Sharks supporter when he was younger too. Don't know if he's still got a soft spot for us after his long stint with the Dragons, but one can hope.

FROM THE OTHER FORUM , makes sense to me.

regardless of this philosophy, the facts are, we need something in the halves for 2015.

This is where I would be buying Ben Barba and taking full freight of his Broncos contract.
My reasons for Barba are:

- He is still on his Bulldogs contract. Remember the Bulldogs made sure that he didn't sign for Brisbane for more money and only went for family reasons. So he would be on or around the 400-500k mark. Smart money.

- He is the best 5/8 to have played in the under 20's. Anyone who watched him in his time at the Dogs juniors could see this. His Dally M year was not all about kick returns and kick return meters, it was about support play and second phase play, which is what a 5/8 can do.
We have some great forwards who can off load and that is what Ben has made a career of.
He only moved to fullback so Des could accomodate him, and if I am honest, I thought he was starting to look comfortable again in the number 6 jumper.

- He is lived in the area. There is a small leg up if ever there was one.

I am serious when I suggest him. If it means Brown goes to the bench or NSW cup to learn to play half back, so be it.
One thing we lacked consistently in the halves is creativity and support play, and he is as off the cuff as it comes.

The only area that might be of concern is a long kicking game, but to be honest, we haven't had a good one for a while, even with Carney, and if we get him soon he can have an off season to hit the ball as sweet as he can.

The no dick heads policy can fly out the window, the majority of the board members are dick heads anyway.

Remember when Nathan Gardner was at his peak doing amazing things on the field?

Then Gallen took over and started feeding him hospital passes around the ruck and scrum base.

Then he hurt his ankle and Coach Flanno continued to play him whilst he was obviously hurt and needed recuperation - because he was the only creative attacking option we had - causing more damage...

He was never the same after that and any spontaneous off the cuff play disappeared from his game.

Cronullafied.....what's the bet that the same thing would happen to Ben Barber?

I think Gards X factor was other teams not doing their homework and not knowing much about him, the fact is he has been wanting a 1st grade gig with anyone last couple of seasons and hasn't got a offer off anyone as far as I know..i Like the guy butis a bit ov a one trick pony, speed is great but not the be all end all in the NRL

TITANS AMONG THE OPTIONS FOR HOFFMAN
COURIER MAIL – OCTOBER 9, 2014
POSTED IN: CANBERRA RAIDERS, CANTERBURY-BANKSTOWN BULLDOGS, GOLD COAST TITANS, JOSH HOFFMAN, NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS, NEWS
Josh Hoffman

The Gold Coast Titans have entered the race for Josh Hoffman with six NRL rivals to wage a bidding war for the unwanted Broncos utility.

By signing with the Titans, Hoffman could keep his young family in Brisbane, but the Raiders, Canterbury and Warriors are set to table offers he will find hard to resist.

The Raiders are prepared to pay Hoffman upwards of $600,000 a season, but the Green Machine have also tabled a massive offer for Manly custodian Brett Stewart.

The Warriors are keen to fly Hoffman to New Zealand to inspect their setup and Bulldogs coach Des Hasler remains interested after nearly poaching him in February.

As good as Snake is I don't know why Canberra would be after him. He'll be 30 next year and they're not going to be in contention for a few years yet you would think. They'd be much better off getting Hoffman long term, even though Snake is easily the better player.

Canberra just reiks of desperation for a big name player .. Like s treasurer trying to get a budget thru a Senate

Age doesn't matter in this case. I don't know anything about him as a player but as long as he's half decent hopefully he can buy us some time to go after/develop a long term halfback. We can't have Robbo as halfback next year.

It'll probably be Robbo + whoever we can pick up. WE can probably get by with a pass mark if the new guy can kick, but my God it's frustrating.
