VERY speculative article in the tele about Isaiah Papali'i supposedly wanting to backflip on his deal with the Tigers.
I can't see how they'd entertain letting him do that, especially after letting Leilua, Garner and Tuilagi go.

I actually feel sorry for tigers fans now, the club is a ****ing dumpster fire.
If true that'd be such a dog act at this stage when almost every decent edge player is off the market and they just have just Blore left, maybe Peachey.

Like, you could sort of piece something together from off-contract list still but that'd be a massive loss, wasn't even that long ago Garner signed away
Billy Burns, Michael Chee-Kam, Angus Crichton, Andrew Davey, Matt Doorey, Mitchell Dunn, Tom Eisenhuth, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Jackson Ford, Jack Gosiewski, Wade Graham, Chris Lewis, Jack Murchie, Keenan Palasia, Kevin Proctor, Joe Stimson, Jackson Topine

If it is a value thing can Tigers really look at his contract and say okay we will pay a bit more?
Not their 'fault' he signed for what was probably unders then and went ahead and kept playing great. Bowing to a contract upgrade before he's ever even run out in your colours sets a terrible precedent. Come back to the table in 18 months and we will talk upgrade extension.

Worst case you say well you've left us in a position there is no way we can release you from the contract unless your manager can secure us some suitable replacements.

Even Api signed a couple weeks later so good chance Papali'i signature got him over the line so he'd be spewing too

I'd imagine they'd need to be a specific clause in his contract re Macguire to get out and the Tigers would need to be an even bigger dumpster fire of an organisation then I give them credit for to have included one of them.

I get the impression that Papalii has probably been on unders at the Eels and if he wanted to cause problems over money he could have already done that.

could there be more too the Nathan Brown wants out - tigers want him story? Not a suitable replacement but eels could be saying look we want to keep Pappali, who can we give you in return to releasing him? Tigers should ask for Brown, Opacic and Lane in return.

Think Opacic is signed to an English club and I think Brown already has permission to look elsewhere

The eels don't want Brown. Tigers should take him if they want him and keep Papali'i

If I’m the tigers there is no way in hell I am releasing Pappali from his contract. tigers should sign brown as well to strengthen their pack. And also Thompson from the dogs. They got the money for it.

they have tried thompson but he made it clear he didnt want to go

i have heard we are in for a very good forward for 2023
If it’s the same cattle iv heard about we won’t be needing Wade, if he want to stay in Aus the tigers would really benefit from an experienced forward to help out the mountain of great young forwards they have coming through.

Angus Crichton maybe. Would think in would be a edge player giving the amount of middles we have.

I’m already pretty happy with our pack next year, if we improve on it I’ll be ecstatic.

Can only assume it’s an edge with how many middle we have on the books.

Do we have many middles tho?

Fifita, Tolman, Hunt unsigned.

We have Kafusi, BHU, Rudolph, Hazelton, Williams is all i can think of?

Finucane will move into front row when McInnnes comes in. We also have signed Colquhoun now.

I’d really like to re-sign Hunt and at least one of Fifita or Tolman very cheap.
Fifita probably the more exciting of the two although quite a limited minutes player but I do worry how much extra damage he’s stacking onto his body each year he keeps playing.

JC and Dale. Talakai might go to the middle.

So that’s 7 or 8 off a 30 man squad so seems pretty reasonable to me.

Also I expect we’ll keep Hunt. Or hope we do

If by “middle” you mean prop, any time McInnes and Dale are on the field, Dale is playing prop. Since they each play about 60 minutes I reckon that is about 20-30 minutes each game at a minimum.

Ideally though, neither of these two players are running back a kick off. For that you’d prefer a genuine prop.

Note that we also have Josh Finau in the pipeline. He’s a year younger than JC. Has missed most of this season though. Just returned last week.
