May as well have a transitional year next year now, see what the likes of Blayke, Kennedy and Xerri have.

Haven’t watched too much of Bunnies games but is Johnston that bad at fullback? His try scoring record is incredible and is one of the fastest players in the comp, very experienced too for his age. 79 tries in 104 games, at the age of 23! I know a lot of these were from the wing but that’s still very impressive.

Admittedly I haven’t seen him much at FB though, but we’ve come a long way to be disappointed by signing this type of player

No, he's actually pretty good imo, chimes into backjline plays very nicely.

He's no Val but not many are. I'd happily take him.

I don't really understand the dislike some people have for him.

I think it's that he isn't as good as the two options people thought we had in Val & Barba.

He's no superstar but he's an above average fullback.

My main issue with Alex is I think to get him he's gunna want up around what we were offering Val, and I don't want to pay him that. Plus he's still contracted to Bunnies right? So we may need to pay more again to get him released?

I also felt he was surplus to requirement... but if we can get him for reasonable value now we have a spot I'm open to it.
I do have some concerns about leg injuries but if we aren't over paying then you can take the risk and hope for the best.

No club is going to pay him that kind of coin mate. Not a chance in hell.

But here we are suddenly with a roster spot (at fullback) and money... so as I said, he will want it and we might just be desperate enough (I hope not).

He turned down his last contract offer as it was for winger money not fullback money and then signed later in the year after a few good games at fullback, although I have no idea what for I doubt he leaves the Rabbits mid contract without a worthwhile bump up.

Transitional year with some frontloading of contracts then throw it all at the turbos next offseason for 2021. This ****ing sucks.

Look AJ isn't terrible. He's the best on the market. My issue is I don't think we ever win a comp with him at the back, esspecially if our halves remain Moylan, Chad and Flanno. It feels like we would be signing for the sake of it rather than as a best future option.

I say we move between Dugan and Moylan for the year giving Xerri, Flanno, Kennedy, Trindal and the like some game time if they are up for it. If they all flop then so be it. We move forward with some decent knowledge of which of the young blokes have the ability to play firsts.

Definitely want to do as much front loading as we can get away with - especially if we can wait until second half of the season in case we can pick someone up.

Should be easy to retain Graham now and those boys would be good targets if we could pull it off although wouldn't wanna wait that long until we have an NRL quality fullback

Thing is we have two NRL quality fullbacks, they just aren't anywhere near Val. I think we could make do if we had a big name prospect in store.
