I wonder how much we paid Ricky?
How much cap space it free’s up.

The last contract of his I recall (cant remember the exact year) Flanno put him on a long term deal at a bargain price, not sure if he got upgraded since then (post 2016 perhaps) but I think it was somewhere in the $350k a year over 4 or 5 years sorta deal

Arent the toronto wolfpack located in england though and will just play in toronto on occassion?
yea they play in some lower tier English division - wouldn't think they would be flying back to Toronto every week

If it meant giving the Tigers Val to get Barba back before June deadline .
Would you do it ?
I would have to say YES

Barba has maybe a couple good few years left in him before that zip starts to fade, Holmes has an entire career ahead of him with the best yet to come

Bringing barba back isn't enough to give us another premiership (unless Moylan finds a way to play out of his skin) , not a great trade

Holmes leaving is assumptions and speculation - if we can have both holmes AND Barba in our team again then **** yes i'm all for that

I hate seeing Barba headlines. Only because he needs to be here. Ugh. Someone revive his official thread please.

Definitely an assumption .
But for Tigers to let Kevin Naiqama go , something must be coming their way in return . Especially for Barba to be granted leave .
Makes sense that if Val wants to play Fullback and Barba did want to come back., something has to give.
A three way deal isn't out of the question .
There would still be a transfer fee to English Club
Barba fullback , Katoa on the right wing., we would still be looking VERY strong ( Moylan will come good )
So , if that was the case .
Would we be wise to let Val go , under these circumstances ?

The Wolfpack have bases in Toronto and in Manchester. The draw is adjusted to give them streaks games at home and away to minimise the travel. Last season they would have a few of each in a row but this year they have a huge streak of away games and then play all of their games at home from June.

They destroyed the 3rd division last year so they are now in the tier below ESL. The owner stated publicly last year that the intention is to become and ESL team within 4-5 years. He is trying to launch two more teams (Hamilton and Boston) and there is talk of a NY team.

Ben Barba is talented but has an attraction to getting into big trouble off the field. Some don't want to hear it, but he is extremely high risk and can go completely off the rails on any day (be it drugs, alcohol, domestic violence, etc). He's a great player but he's not worth the risk.

If we can just add him on to our current list I'd be fine. But I wouldn't be comfortable moving Val on. (Not that I really believe all that talk)

Would the NRL have any power to block him signing with us or is that outside of their charter now that he's served his suspension?

Greenberg probably wouldn't like it but then again he doesn't seem to like our club much.

Would he ask us to put any behavioural guidelines etc. into a contract I wonder?

We seriously have to move on from Barba.

Holmes is the future and if we can keep him happy and wanting to stay you back him 10/10 times over an ageing barba

You have to stop getting so excited about this Egg.

Remember, it is written by a journalist. Jour-na-list.

Definition: A scurrilous, two-faced, attention-seeking, scandal-hungry cretin who is hell bent on selling more newspapers or stirring up drama on the net to feed his own ego and report anything but the truth.

Is that clear?

There are still so many ifs and buts in this situation and there are no direct quotes from St Helens, Flanno, Val, Barba or anyone else.

So until something more concrete comes along I won’t believe a word of it.

No way should we take Barba if it means Holmes goes.

Can't see why we couldn't do the following in 2019:

1. Barba
2. Katoa
3. Dugan
4. Gray/Signing/Younggun
5. Holmes
6. Moylan
7. Chadwick

With a cheap centre and rookie winger on the books it's not too far fetched to fit all three of Duges, Barba and Holmes in.

Way too much money on 3 backs. And you don't pay that much for a winger.
