You don't need to know what players are on. The numeric value of the cap is irrelevant except during the cap raise period. A simple count of the number of top tier players is required. For example, everyone knew that Melbourne was cheating back in the day because they had too many big wheels, Slater, Cronk, Inglis and Smith. What's the point of arguing about dollars and cents when no one has the exact amounts of what players are actually on.
Quite clearly we do have room under the cap, by the mere fact that we're talking to Pearce.
I really don't want to move Val back to the wing because I'm worried we'll lose him.
Seriously? It's all glory at fullback compared with the wing. Why would he leave? He loses nothing.
Got the higher dollars, would more likely score more often, at rep level only plays wing anyway, and can still gain more ball skill and defensive awareness for a future switch to fullback.
Sportingnews ran an article that the reason Lyall left was because he and Flanno didn't get on in the end .
One had to go .

If you move Val to the wing, who would you put at FB?
It doesn't surprise me. When does Flanno look like he hasn't sucked on a lemon. Some people always feel wronged and I suspect that is what lies behind Flanno's outwardly miserably persona. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that gets along with people. If true that seems strange.
Lyall appeared to be doing a great job and Flanno delivered on field success, can't undersrand what the major problem would be?

Val signed for unders on good faith that he would be the next long term fullback. He leaves he earns big money at fullback at any bottom eight club with a view to bigger and better things.

Flanno is one of those types who always thinks he has been wronged by the world.
I see fullback as a glory position and it pays accordingly. Val won't be prepared to admit he can't hit the top five at this stage I would hope.More glory scoring 20 tries on the wing in a season with spectacular finishing than being a pretty good fullback. Fact, val could be 1 Of the best wingers in the game. Wont be top 5 fbs

I agree Flanno was entirely in the right on that one, and that that the football department should run the football side of thing. My point was Flanno appears grumpy and hard to get along with at the best of times and unable to let things go.What about that time Flanno talked to Flash regarding a transfer then Lyall over ruled it. Obviously communication is key but surely a coach and hos football department should get some say in that sorta stuff.

Who should win between Flanno and Lyall? I give Flanno the credit not Lyall. However, Flanno has a downside.
Flanno seems nice enough on the surface but he isn't a guy you want to get on the wrong side of
I still remember this time back in one of the apartments I was renting out with mates when I debated the call out fee on an invoice he sent me from unblocking my toilet.
I said I wasn't paying that portion of the bill - he said fine. Next day he rocks up at mine saying he left a tool behind in the bathroom. I walk in on him 5 minutes later and there he is blocking my dunny back up with a big bag of ****
"There's your refund mate"
He isn't exactly Mary Poppins though. lolFunny how much perceptions can differ. He comes across as a nice guy from what I've seen. He won't be walked over but the playing group generally seem to like him (apart from Maloney, Gardner and Ike and probably Bird now. and maybe some other fellas who are dirty that they didn't get much of a run).
The only real time I can remember him having a whinge he copped that 30k fine.

He reminds me of Wayne Bennett in some ways. He has his way with the players, but it is hard to understand the attraction. He has grown on me as a coach a lot though.
