Michael Oldfield and Liam Knight have signed with Ricky's mob.

Oldfield's been around for a while now, this is his fifth club, sixth if you count the English Super League. I'm sure he's the guy that scored a try on the bell against us at Shark Park when playing for Manly a few years back.
I thought he was going to be a good player but he hasn't gone on with it unfortunately.

I thought the same. played a full season at manly and done a real good job. since then haven't spotted him.

moga is a very good player

es'e es'e is going to be good, newcastle wont make the top 8 but i dont think they will be at the bottom either

if they manage to get rory krozjasyn (can't spell his name) on the park and also Jamie buhrer (was playing good for them before his injury) I think they can work there way off the bottom of the ladder next season.

ponga, moga, krozjasyn, e'sse e'sse Barnett, buhrer, s ma'tatutia (can't spell his name either), ross, SKD, Guerra are pretty decent players.

can definitely build a team around them. just need to find an established half imo. and a couple of old heads at prop.

they need confidence, and need to remember what it feels like to win games of footy.

so getting some experienced guys in there that can help contribute to there side getting more than 1 or 2 wins a season is a positive.

plus the younger players can learn from them. not just on the field but off it. ie training etc... there's a reason these guys over 30 are still running around and still performing. its how they have taken care of themselves off the field, how they warm up, how they train, how they eat, how they handle pressure, how they prepare mentally each weekend before a game of footy etc..

that knowledge is priceless. younger guys aspire to older blokes, i'm playing union at the moment and i tell you what. when i see an old bloke in my team busting his arse out on the field it makes me want to run off the bench stop peeling oranges and have a real crack lol ( i play on the wing)

but seriously, these older guys demand motivation i feel and have that follow me attitude, lets have a real crack here. something newcastle does not have at the moment i don't believe.

im not saying replace the whole team on 1 year deals. but to add guys like Hoffman, Benji, Lillyman, Lawrence etc.. guys who have been around a while and played origin, test football, over 100-200 games is a win win for that club. sure they're not in there prime but i would sign them to give those guys what i have listed above.

In influential positions like the halves u dont want a guy like benji on a 1 year deal. If he had 2 in him maybe.

A few experienced forwards on short term deals isnt bad, but for 1,6,7,9 they need to build a good combo. Short term success for them could just land them back where they are in 2-3 years. Moga and ese'ese are good pick ups but are gunna need a performing team to really have them firing.
