I'd prob give Gal another year before Lewis. Depending on the games he plays, Gal coming off the bench could be a lot more effective than most

Gal will have too many media gigs lined up for 2018 to worry sbout playing another year. Happy for him to enjoy life post footy

I reckon Heighington might have more miles left in his legs than both of them.

By the way, is he sober yet ?

Big call for Lewy going another two years. Let's see how he is holding up after 4 months or so of next season.

He was quoted several times saying he wants to play two more seasons, but is happy to sign a one year deal and see if he earns a contract in 2018. Flanno has been quoted saying something along the lines of "Lewis won't be playing in 2018" but everyone also said Heighno would be gone this year. Things can change; Lewis definitely says he wants to play on.

It's not about getting media gigs. After a long and successful career, Gal is very wealthy. Have you ever thought that maybe he enjoys playing the game and the companionship he gets from his teammates. Some of the great players who retire say that they most miss the locker room interaction with teammates.

No doubt he enjoys the game, and the companionship that come with footy, no doubt he loves the sharks as much as I do, but nothing is forever and gal is to proud a man and has played at the highest level for to long to not go out on his own terms playing good footy, hence I don't see him playing in any capacity post 2017. Think he will also want to be involved with the game as well therefore a media gig is fairly certain. Hurting his knee round 1 thinking his career may well be over to being premiership captain it sure has been a big year for our captain.
I thought I read a quote from gal saying if ennis hadn't retired he would have pulled the pin, but didn't want us to be short 2 senior players.

Gal also seems like the sort of bloke who'd tear paint off the walls without something to do for a few days. I think he'll probably box till he's 40 odd I don't think he could go too long with belting someone either on the field or in the ring.

He has the chance to play 300 games for the Sharks. If he falls short this year I think the temptation to reach that might be too big to pass up. If he's playing good footy this year I can see him going again. He always talks about "if I'm playing good footy, why not" so it wouldn't surprise me.

His minutes were reduced this season, and he still managed to pump out the same big numbers. If he went on to 2018 even as a bench option playing a smaller role it could work as a filler if we arent bolstered in the forwards given we will lose a few next year

That's my reasoning. Even as a bench player he will still provide more impact than half the forwards in the game. Still a year a way but if his ego isn't to hurt by coming off the bench he could reach 300

Still needs 19 games hey I thought he was closer than that for some reason. So without factoring in finals he's got 5 weeks wiggle room for injury/suspension. Hopefully it lines up with game at Shark Park but looking at the draw if he plays 19 straight it'll land happen in NZ in round 21.
