Seggy is a gun player but anyone else think if he can shaft Leeds without batting an eyelid he might turn it up if things aren't always to his liking with us?

If we want seggy and he wants to be here. We pay him his 600k minus the transfer fee. If he wants to play for 150-200 for season 1 id be all for it

I read somewhere in an article that there is not only a transfer fee, but then some sort of amount lobbed on top think it was 250K, whether it was a penalty or something im not sure making it more like 600K before you even considered his pay at the sharks.

Basically the article said it would cost a club near 900-1M to get it done under the NRL Salary cap.

Making it impossible.

Leeds wanted 250k in pounds compensation if he doesnt go back. Thats the transfer fee if u will.

The NRL might not be. They've got these new rules about having to pay market value for players these days I'm pretty sure. Something along those lines.

And who pays the transfer fee ?

us. or him. Either way, we dont spend over what hes worth.

If we arent trying to persuade him out of his contract, and it really is him being homesick/wanting out, then he should have to pay it IMO. Same for all players. Broncos paid freight for Barba, cos they didnt want him. IMO If a player wants out he himself should have to pay the freight not another club, unless that club was sniffing for him to get the release

Well he's not going to pay Leeds the fee from his money then we go and pay him less so he's losing money for the year. No ones that stupid.

And if we pay it it's coming out of our cap (seen a few quotes now to suggest this is the case) so there's no bargain there as he'll be taking up 600k out of our cap.

Yeah thats why im saying mate? If we are happy to pay him 600k a year, id be saying we give u the 600 less the transfer fee in year 1 (so like $175,000) or nothing. I wouldnt want us to be putting 600k into him, plus another 425. over a million on a hooker whos not exactly sought after would just be silly.

Segyaro will need to come to the party with whoever he signs with, cos noone is going to wanna wear his bill. UNLESS the NRL allow that transfer/compensation fee to be split across his contract in terms of cap space (which wont happen)

Yeh, which is $425k.
Plus there is another fee by the NRL apparently

yeah thats what the 425 i was saying. What other fee can the NRL throw in?

Even tho hes a good player, sounds like too much of a dick around to get him here, not to mention i doubt we have a spare mil in the cap next year
