I'm hearing bird and val are done deals at knights for 2018. Got them as a combo. 850k for each.

Val has 1 hand on our #1 jersey and we won't be short changing him. We might not offer as much as Newy purely on dollars but he won't be going hungry, he won't be living in Newy and he can look forward to winning more than once or twice a year.

If anyone wants to throw ridiculous money at Bird to play a spine role and he takes it good on him and I feel bad luck to whoever was silly enough.

Newy will be in the doldrums for a while and I don't see a Val or Bird (or even both) changing things too much. Whatever extra coin they get would have to outweigh that desire to play finals for some time.

Newy are linked to every talented player. Ponga, Bird, Holmes, Tedesco, Moses. At the end of the day there just going to get one of Johns or Gidley's sons... No worries from me.

The fact they both won a premiership so young may mean they don't mind a few crappy years if Newcastle is offering really silly money.

It means they know how awesome it is and want it all the time. The idea of no finals footy would blow.

Well the rumour doing the rounds is Pongia has agreed to a monster deal with Newcastle. So if that's the case, keeping Val just got slightly easier.

Remember that the DCE situation exists. Guys can sign elsewhere for big bucks and then still back-flip to stay. Even if the Knights sign one of these guys to the alleged deals there is still every possibility that it is just a negotiation strategy to milk more out of their current teams.

I don't think it does exist any longer. Now there is a 10 day cooling off period and the signing can only be officially announced by either party after that.

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure thats the new thing.

Nah rekon your right,
the new player managers move get more cash is to leak a massive overs contract being tabled by the Knights..
