Takes a lot more than hitting hard to make it in firsts. Good luck to him. Either way training with us will help him get fit for next season, looks like he needs to keep getting those legs stronger.

Mole reporting that Newcastle are making million dollar bids for Holmes/Bird 2018. It's nice to be in the position of retention for once as the others make outrageous bids around us. It jacks up the price sadly, but that's the cost of having good players.

Barba's departure basically guarantee's Bird/Holmes stay I would have thought. No longer have to pay big bucks for winger.

Malakai Houma (train and trial from Newtown)
He won the most consistent player award at the jets last year, which is a good sign. Suggests some discipline and an ability to follow coaches instructions.

I'm glad Houma are Dillon are in the mix. Having a young bookend on our roster would be good.

It's not a guarantee by any stretch of the means.

Star players change clubs mostly because they're unhappy, or want a big cheque as they get toward the end of their career. When they're younger they more often take less money to stay where they are. That's as far as I've followed transfers in the last 10 years anyway.

Agree although with Bird's medical history he may want to make hay while the sun shines, couldn't really blame him for that. I'm 99.9% confident Val will stay.

Yeah good point, makes him an exception for sure. Still, Newcastle would need a big cheque.

Birds ego would see him go anywhere but newcastle. He wants to be a winner. Could see him leaving to another side with a good roster but the Knights are far from that.

Not the case these days. He'll go to whoever pays him the most. Bird's in it for the money like most players are these days.

Newcastle will be rumoured to be throwing crazy overs at plenty over the next couple of years to keep sponsors and fans happy, because they will stink on the feild and you would expect some turmoil. All their eggs and cash in a val bird combo deal won't leave lots left for much else quality, the only chance these teams have is recruiting flanno and then taking advantage of his recruitment skills, the 2016 premeriers wish them luck with their doomed strategy,

Knights want Kalyn Ponga on big money, hopefully they get him so they keep their hands off Bird and Val.

Cant see any young guy on the rise going to Knights at present, the Knights offers to all & sundry will be used as bargaining chips for players & player managers.
