Tupou signs for Sharks
Exclusive by Phil Rothfield

THE Cronulla Sharks have tonight signed Test forward Anthony Tupou from the Roosters on a four year deal.

Tupou is understood to have agreed to a $1.5 million deal that will see him leave Bondi after six-years.

The Sharks had to beat off a massive offer from Manly and a desperate attempt by Roosters supremeo Nick Polits to keep the strapping forward at the club.

Sources tonight indicated it was the opportunity to play under Kangaroo coach Stuart that swayed the deal the Sharks way for four seasons in the Shire.

Hooly Dooly......
Gallen, Bird, Tupou, Williams, Anderson....
Then Dougie and Ross
Just hope we have some money left for a decent recruit in the backline

Yer totally agree, we could use some or all of Ross's $400k contract for that!

Ricky Stuarts significant influence has paid dividends big time. Toupou is big strong and fast and the fact he has come to us for less money than Manly offered speaks volumes for the respect and stature that Ricky is held in this game.Freeing up the 250k from Lances retirement obviously helped.

Made my night! I think everything else has been said. Tupou is class, our back row for 2009 is undoubtedly the best. Also great to see we not only attracted attention from a big name player prior to his twilight years, but the fact we actually beat off other clubs to get pen to paper for once in a while.

Well done Sticky and Zapps.

I wonder who they are going to off load to afford him. Eddie Sua, Brian Norrie, Paul Stephenson, Jacob Selmes, Luke Covell, Brett Seymour ? A few contracts will not be renewed thats for sure.

i guess it depends how snowden settles in this year. i see us releasing ross and getting another young front rower and a decent back
