Well if David signs for another club maybe the hate for the twins will settle down a bit. No doubt they are targeted by the media as they are (were) Cronulla players. If he were to chuck on a Brisbane jersey he'd be the best thing since sliced milk.

Put the Queensland untouchable Saint Thurston in Andrew's shoes and no way the media takes the same angle on the Loveridge story or at the very least are no where near as harsh - the journo's pick and choose their agenda's and will drive hard after the soft targets where backlash will be kept to a minimum

Not so much about facts and reason, just selling a familiar line to the masses

I don't know about that....sliced milk is pretty hard to beat.

Couldn't agree more. They really pick and choose, and you are dead right with if the likes of Thurston were supporting a mate in jail for the same thing, and he decided to speak about it, or have it written on an arm band they would be going on about how he is such a good bloke for supporting a mate going through a hard time. There is no doubt about it.

you're talking hypotheitcals though

the difference between fifita and thurston is thurston isnt stupid enough to do something like fifita did

you cant compare apples and oranges to suit an arguement

Thurston was stupid enough to swear at cops and get arrested in 2010, something the media wouldn't drudge up though when talking about his majesty. Thurston's past suggest he is no angel so how much grace period before Andrew can be considered 'reformed' and morally ok in the public eye? My guess is never and the latest beat up just sets him back even further.

Your're right it is a hypothetical, fair call and in 2016 Thurston isn't stupid enough to put himself in these sort of situations. It was an extreme example I gave of the other side of the coin but the double standards and agenda's from the media remain.
If the journo's took their profession seriously and weren't paid to right opinion pieces for their masters we could maybe see some more balanced and reasoned articles and commentary on the matter instead of the reactionary drivel being shoveled out to sell website hits and feed ego's.

Fifita wearing the armband was a misstep on his part but without knowing the details of this alleged recorded conversation between him and Loveridge at the prison he has done little wrong in my eyes and is being treated the way he is alot of because of who he is not actually what was done or not done on his part.

Andrew has stated that it took him years to forgive his friend for what happened, he's supporting the mate not the crime - perhaps the more marketable stars of the NRL would be given the benefit of the doubt in the absence of all the facts and details
I don't expect the media to like Andrew just to give him a fair go and take some perspective

Hadn't the 'junior' ref refused to stop the game when one of Difita's players was injured?

Where is the junior ref's duty of care if that was the case? I don't remember that question being asked by the media. Maybe because it could have given some justification to him entering the field to address the ref.
