Well the media will be gunning for Fifita now much like they are with Tony Williams, I don't think Fifita will do a Williams & have bugger all involvement in a game, being a prop you are in the thick of it but its well reported he is on massive coin so he will be scrutinized like Williams & most recently Adam Blair.

for an extra $50k p.a. (reportedly) which after tax is $25k a year... loyalty is dead!

dumb founded at his pay slip - I predict he will collapse under the weight of expectation at the dogs.. and deserves him right

Lets just hope his twin brother can become as good if not better than Andrew!!!

promote his brother to the bench and send andrew to reggies... (im just an angry little man right now! )

It's a business mate. A player has a 10 year career if he's lucky.

its not a business to the supporters... if i wanted to support a business i would cheer for BHP - its a game to me and something to be passionate about.. to see one of our best propects walk out the door isnt good and seems to put the wishful fiurst tital further and further away - not to mention how much this is like is like ground hog day ..

clubs need to make $$ , players need to make $$... but loyalty is a choice! (see Gallen, lockyer, smith etc etc..)

Understand all of that, but the bottom line is it's a short career for the players and they're trying to do the best they can for themselves. That's the salary cap for you...and without a salary cap our club would be dead.

its sad that players and some fans see "the best they can do for themselves" as literally the biggest pay check they can get.... indicates $$ is the most important thing above all else and that staying at a club has no associated benefits..

but it is what is it... i will build a bridge and get over it!

Haha no need to build a bridge, I understand your frustration, it's just the reality of professional sport these days. Like I said, if you only had a 10 year career you would be trying to make the most of it. Can't see Fifita earning much when he retires.

I like this idea of promoting David to first grade bench but not Andrew to reggies.

He hasn't gone yet ffs!!! Wait and see what the day brings. Remember snowden was at a presser ready to announce re signing with us and pull out an hour before due to a call from tinkler. This is far from over and I doubt we will even find out today.

You think fans aren't going to speculate on a forum?

Of course they will. Hell I even do mate. But to start bad mouthing the guy is just plain wrong. If he goes then you can't blame him that money is unheard of for a prop. You have to take your hat off to him. But to be on here throwing **** at him isn't on.

If he performs well in his next run I have no problems it hurts for him to go but its not like we ain't used to it.

If he bitchies out for the rest of the season he can go EAD

well if he does go its not for the money is it? an extra $50k on top of what we offered isn't a big amount in terms of the overall deal.

Its $4000 a month after tax. Its a mortgage payment on a $800,000 house.

With canterbury using this years cap space to make this signing is there a possibility that fifita is getting a signing bonus this year or a sum of money?

Let's look at this way, we get the benefit of a prop worth $850k in 2014 and at probably a quarter of the salary and perhaps still subsidised by the Tigers.
