I don't know how long their other players are contracted for, but he wouldn't be a priority for me, given the make up of their squad.

Surely they could use the money better elsewhere?
They are still trying to get hoffman and J.Graham was the only player to be voted by every other side as a "danger man" so i dont think they have a problem at all in the front row department

And why wouldn't they bolster their forwards by adding fifita?
I think every team would be throwing an offer at Fifita, its more a matter of how much do they need him compared to other positions they need to fill. Teams are just gonna throw money at him for the lolz of it so we have to up our offer. Look at how the TC fiasco turned out.

Latest is the knights are interested. The longer it goes on I actually think the better chance we have of keeping him. We must be continuing to sweeten our deal as other offers come in or he would be already gone. Unless he's trying to decide between other clubs and we're already out, but somehow I doubt that. I don't see how we are having any more trouble fitting him under the cap than other clubs.

Saints warriors and penrith were all in a position to sign TC.

Ahhh the Knights, with coach Bennett, who famously doesn't pay overs for front rowers. (Has he ever actually really been quoted on that?) Unless it's Kade Snowden, the local.

For all the talk about players rightly chasing the dollar, and league being a business first, happy players almost always stay put, often taking pay cuts to do so.

"pay cuts" Todd did lose a lot of m
oney by not signing with other clubs, but the ridiculous amount of money being talked about had to make us put our offer up.

The longer this goes on, the higher the offers get and the more we have to pay just to make him "loyal"

Exactly, why do you think every other club is pushing the offers out there, half of them would know they are no chance, but it then allows them shots at other players later down the track.

For example, the bulldogs, if they don't push us up on Fifita to long term help their chances at taking Lichaa (if he isn't already gone in essence) they would be mad.

Plus as with all players in demand, there would be manager shenanigans going on to push the price up.

Surely they'd only put offers on the table if they were somewhat serious?

They wouldn't get anything from chucking 550k his way if everyone else is at 650. It would be a waste of everyones time. And if they chuck 670 at him and he takes it, then they are stuck with him at an inflated price.

Be Pretty easy to discuss an amount and then pull out, whilst inflating his price at other clubs.

Not everything is going to have a formal contract with an amount written down on it. Plenty of informal conversations go on before getting to the serious talks, you don't think the Manager is going to be using that to their advantage?

Agree. I'm sure clubs are playing funny buggers with each other all the time when it comes to pushing prices up for their rivals.
