If he has something bad enough to medically retire him and it isn't going to get better is the club making a bad call to persist with him? Are we missing a trick here? What are they hoping to achieve? Does it open us up to future problems?

Thoughts?

Yes, I think so. The hard call needs to be made sooner rather than later so we can start preparing to replace him.

Isn't he contracted for another two years after this one? It's just not sustainable.

I think him coming out and saying 'my knee is awful but I can still play' and then playing more than a full season on it makes it pretty hard to get it covered as a medical retirement.

Andrew says he is qualified though - how he came to that determination, in consultation with and on who's advice I cannot answer

Doesn't really fit with my understanding of how medical retirements are being approached so I can't see how. Yes it was a new injury during current contract... then he went and played more than a season on it. It's no longer a new injury bad enough he can't play anymore.

On one hand he very well could know better than me, on the other hand Andrew Fifita getting something wrong wouldn't knock me out my chair....

Haha fair call that.

Didn't Burgess continue to play on for a while post his injury? Not 100% sure of the details now.

I do agree though, you would have to think the longer he plays on, the less likely it is.

He did say he might have to start managing it off the field. If he's not doing that already, i don't doubt he has nfi

Pretty sure Lewis managed a chronic knee injury - not like Fifi hasn't seen what needs to be done.

Even if it was at the expense of his fitness I'd rather him have a positive impact for 20-30 mins a game than play mediocre for 40

My standards are a little lower. I just don't want him having a negative impact on the team. Might i suggest something like the captains challenge, but for offloads. If he makes it hes free to do another one, but soon as he doesn't, thats it for the game.

Dropped ball in contact or while playing the ball takes away your offload pass too - hopefully he'd hang onto a bit better if he wasn't allowed to offload.

Breaking the offload pass rule is a suspendable offence

I was blind by kickoff, but i watched the replay of the first half (still drunk, not blind), and he was no way as bad as being made out to be. His charge off the second kickoff was awsome. He must of been pretty **** in the second half, which is a shame because i was looking forward to watching the rest of the game.

The only advice I would give to him and I really love him and only want the best for him physically and more importantly mentally. Listen to your body look we’re you are at within the team and it’s current structure. And then go look at Darius anything good that guy has done for the broncos in years past is quickly getting eroded away. He is to good a player to not go out on his terms..

Yeah one of his better games, that captains challenge though was Wattoesque.

All four of the props were good tonight. The prop rotation is definitely not the issue in this team.
