It is the seriousness of the allegation that is the problem. By way of analogy, sometimes murderers are denied bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the allegations (obviously Andrew has pinched some choclates by comparison so appreciate it is an analogy).

The view of the ref and his officials' opinions hold far greater weight than those of the spectators. Again, by way of example, the St Mary's official told people to be quiet because the ref was a policeman. It is everyone versus the ref and the officials. The default position is to trust the referee.

Yes but its an allegation and imo the club were entitled to do what they wanted regarding standing them down.
roosters gave SKD 'leave' as they worded it, to address problems bla bla bla. The allegations against him are greater than the fifitas.

Not saying its not a serious matter, but on sunday, at 3pm when last team list is made, it was too raw to just say sit down. especially given andrew is denying the threats etc. Its believed David has admitted fault in his role in it all

I wouldn't read too much into what is being reported . I still remember back to when Lyal was first appointed and he repeatedly stated " we need to bring the media into our tent" . Personally I reckon he is paying them like a guitar. The latest " show cause" thing is just a way of puting it out there that we are taking it seriously.

Give it a few days after that and the next line out of the club will be " after reviewing all the evidence the club is satisfied that $$$ fine and 2 week suspension is a fair and proportionate penalty . We will continue to monitor Andrews's wellbeing and will look forward to him rejoining the playing group".

Privately there are two conversations being had between the club and Andrew . One is " you are a bloody dick head look at the position you have put us in!" Then in the next breathe "look mate, you are going to cop some heat for this , but play it our way and it'll all be okay"

I'll say this, we shouldn't be comparing ourselves to the Roosters. We should act on our own.

Having said that, the Rooster's situation is intriguing. It is infinitely more serious than Fifitas's issues and SKD is theoretically still able to play. I understand why the media are holding off, they are not able to say too much for legal reasons and rightly so. I don't understand why he is seemingly free to play, I suspect it is a legal one though.

The over riding point though is that the Roosters don't matter. We need to run our own race.

And we are running our own race. We let andrew play on sunday and gathered more info on monday before making that decision. Remember that time we sacked a guy within 24 hrs of a scandal breaking? We cant have that again.

So now Triple M are alleging if Fifita gets shafted, by the board at the meeting that he's been given a show cause notice to attend, he's liable to walk away from league all together.

**** me, I am so sick of the NRL media.

For me it is the second time I've doubted LG. The first was when he didn't insist upon the sacking of Flanagan as a condition of becoming CEO. Not standing down Andrew last week was weak and his second poor decision.

The club needs to become a genuinely professional outfit. This involves short term pain for long term gain but all I see is the same weak leadership that has dogged the club for years.

I like LG but I get the feeling he is operating with his hands tied behind his back. If that is the case he should resign.

So you expect him to come into a job without getting an idea for himself about the Club and coach to front straight up and demand the coach's sacking? That would just be crazy. He'd be basing his opinion and making massive decisions costing hundreds of thousands of dollars on the back of media talk basically while the entire playing group loves him and has his back.

That is the dead**** sort of thinking that we've suffered from for yonks, and the dead**** opinion of DT "journos".

Lets be honest for a minute here: rugby league games or premierships are not won on morals. Success is won off the field playing a whole other sort of game. Unfortunately 'the game' is no longer the 80min spectacle, its the day time soapy rubbish that surrounds the players and the lead up to the game and how and what Clubs do.

Wake up CrankyShark. You're better than this.

If we punt Fifita or make him wanna walk we're still a dumb Club unaware of the game we're involved in. I reckon 80% plus is how you operate off the field, if not more. From "managing" your salary cap to "managing" your problems. The good Clubs do it good and reap the benefits and taper it down the line/ladder.

Fifita is our man to turn a match. I watched JWH turn it back around for the Chooks tonight while SKD sat in the box with the coach and watched. JWH didn't score any tries but he got them going again and pulled the game out of the fire. A Fifita does the same thing for us but scores tries to boot. At his best he is the best - I welcome anyone to challenge that. I'm happy with some bad press, its par for the course for us. Put it on the integrity commitee now to find any cause to sit him out longer than we have.

I dont think the club will sack him. if fifita wants to walk cos he gets a suspension then he obviously doesnt see the error of his ways, and him being around longer could only be trouble.
I dont think lyal wants him out but i do think if warranted, a harsh punishment will be given.

What a **** storm that's been created. Unbelievable, complete 'trial by media ' situation that could've been over within days. Why on Thursday is there a show cause meeting?
If the Sharks want it done ASAP then do it earlier for everyone involved.

If this does happen he better be banned from league all together. Not a fan of having him play against us.

Why can't we just have a season without losing our best player for disciplinary reasons?

So ****ing sick of this ****.
and just when things are looking up for us. Sitting in a decent position about to head into the run home and this to happen. I just hope he isn't out for to long. We need him that's for sure
