Andrew Fifita will be taking legal action against the Bulldogs. Not just because Des told him he isn't welcome to the Bulldogs after the club found out he wanted to switch codes. But also the Bulldogs offered him less than $850,000.

As I said before when he signed with the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs offered him 600-650K. Not 850K but there was a miss understanding between the Bulldogs and Andrew Fifita. But it wasn't Fifita or the club fault. It was media. We will find out more about it soon!

I'll be very interested to find out because I have no idea how that can happen. What, were they negotiating through the pages of the Daily Telegraph or something?

The Sharks have rallied around Andrew Fifita amid serious concerns for the prop forward's wellbeing.
Fifita has been left confused after he opted out of his contract with Canterbury. He was always hesitant to leave the Sharks and was left rattled when he informed his teammates of the decision, breaking down after their round-one loss to the Gold Coast.
Since then though Fifita has continued to mull over the move. While the Sharks are still keen to lock down the Australian World Cup winner, of more immediate concern is Fifita’s state of mind.
Cronulla chief executive Steve Noyce said the club would work with Fifita.
“It would be confusing and disappointing for Andrew,” Noyce said. “I think we need to work with him as his incumbent club. He is a good young man and these things are disappointing and confusing.”
A Sharks source said the club was “blown away” by the Bulldogs offer to Fifita. That’s not to say the Sharks didn’t try hard to keep their star charge.
They pushed their offer to about $750,000 a season, and upped it to an extra season having originally wanted to secure Fifita for three years. South Sydney – the only other serious suitor for Fifita in rugby league – offered a similar deal to the Sharks. Rugby union also showed an interest.
Third-party agreements by the Bulldogs tipped the deal in Canterbury’s favour, and Cronulla was unable to compete with the sponsorship clout of their rich rivals.
Noyce said it was too early to restart negotiations with Fifita.
“We’ll work with him and review the situation,” Noyce said. “It’s a big change in three weeks from Andrew’s point of view. I’ll chat to him
“There are two things that need to be done; one is to look after Andrew and then two just get the information and then we can review the situation again.”
Fifita did a recovery and video session with his teammates on Monday morning and is expected at Sharks training on Tuesday before the winless side host the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday.
The towering 24-year-old was in career-best form last year with the Sharks, an integral part of the team that made it to the finals before being eliminated by Manly in the second elimination stage.
Captain Paul Gallen said he wanted his Kangaroos teammate to remain at the club.
“I don’t think it’s an issue that we ever want to keep him,” Gallen told Triple M. “He went for money. That was the reason he went.
"Obviously it’s fallen through. I have no idea how or why. I think it’ll be a blessing for everyone. [It was a] hugely inflated price The player market has been going crazy. It should put things back into perspective and things [will hopefully] get back to normal.
“As the club said, Andrew’s welfare is the most important thing. He would be pretty confused.”
Fifita’s twin brother David also plays for the Sharks and made his first-grade debut recently while Andrew was sidelined after a shoulder-charge suspension.
Fifita made his return from his two-game suspension in the Sharks' 30-0 loss to the Knights in Newcastle on Sunday.
“I know what he is going though,” Gallen said. “There is a lot of pressure. I’m not going to tell him to stay or what to do. Even when he did leave us he had my support.
“I think [the club] and Andrew can come to some agreement and he does stay. It’s confusing for everyone
“There will be a number of fans that want him back and there will be some that don’t.”

I don't understand the angst. I don't understand why this leads people to believe that he can now be undervalued. Practically half this joint, and the other one, were suicidal at the thought of him leaving before he even struck a deal.

Andrew didn't offer himself $850k to leave. Andrew didn't tear up his new contract.

Offer him what he's worth. Market value.

FTR a dogs fan posting at LU has stated that the third party sponsors had a spit last week after that article.

His value will drop now cause he is damaged goods - his form is average and there is a media circus and general lack of credibility following him and his management. Maybe should let this simmer down for a few days and see if Roosters or Rabbits throw anything at him and how much so can work through a counter offer or something. He's gunna shop himself around again anyway, let's not look too keen to jump the gun.

I don't know whether to laugh or shake my head. The guy is a chump.

The problem with what you are advocating, i.e. downgrading his initial offer, is it is likely to cause serious resentment toward the club. I think we are stuck with our initial offer or we should pull out.
It was his choice to leave for money, that was weeks ago he rejected our offer. Things change, we have moved on and spent our valuable time looking at recruiting other options. Now our offer can be smaller. Why are we worried what he or others thinks of us, we have done no wrong by him.

I find it a little hard to believe that he had Gal's support when he decided to leave considering Gal said he obviously left for money and his price was inflated

Gal would have been thinking "disloyal ****!" :p

The ARU would look like absolute fools if they were to sign Fifita now, after he rebuffed their earlier approaches.
And what of the Sharks?
A few weeks ago, Fifita broke down in the sheds telling his teammates that he was bound for Belmore.

The word in the hours after the Bulldogs bombshell was that he was likely to re-sign with Cronulla.

The figure being tossed about was $600,000 a year - a quarter of a mill plus drinking silver less than he would’ve received at the Bulldogs.

All over a throwaway line about rugby union.
Imagine all “the ****” Fifita will be catching now.

I don't see why anyone would look foolish for signing him.

He had 5 or 6 offers and could only choose 1.

It doesn't mean that the other offers were bad, or that he was ungrateful or anything like that. He had to choose someone.

Erin molan said on the matty johns show that she has spoken to fifitas management and they are hopeful the other offers are still available, which would mean we were second highest bidders at 750k plus car. I love fifita as a but thats overs

I hope we sign him. He's form this year hasn't been flash but some of that woulda been because of his head space. A long term deal with us would be good for him and he could start redeeming himself on the field.

Then in 6months time we will al forget this happened and love him once again.

The end.

I've been saying a few times we shouldn't be relying on a prop but sadly our lack of structure and backs mean we still need his services and the hope he occasionally turns it on for us with some pies

These would be my offers, the 2 longer contracts would also have some decent incentive based bonuses:

600k per year for a 2 year contract

550k per year for a 3 year contract

500k per year for a 4 year contract
