People keep saying that AFB is a good footy player but “is” a terrible human.

You can argue the toss all day about whether the NRL should allow players back in to the league after assaulting people… but all we can really say about AFB is that he did a terrible and despicable thing 9 years ago.

I think there is an important distinction to be made between someone who ****ed up at 19, regretted his actions and turned himself around, and someone who justifies his actions.

I don’t think we know much at all about what type of person he “is” now. People can change.

Everyone who has erred should have a chance to prove they have rehabilitated. It wasn't exactly shoplifting a CD, but one incident 9 years ago isn't indicative of who he is for life. In Rugby League he could still make the shortlist for the face of the game with that record...

The type of incident will mean that he'll have to prove himself virtually every day, and that's something he will have to keep doing for life. Hopefully it translates into a humble guy looking to do good. That'd be cool to have in the squad.

Thought I'd try to learn a few things if I was to have an opinion. This story from 2016 helps.

If she has forgiven him and moved past it why can't we. Ill never respect him for what he did but I will easily be able to support him

Damn straight. A pattern of repeated bad behaviour over time is one thing, but stuffing up once no matter how badly should be something anyone can come back from.

That wouldn’t be a very well thought out punishment for calling the referee a retard.

No, the NRL made him referee some wheelchair rugby league instead…
? That ones gone over my head mate
