All born in Nz played for nsw. Goes both ways.
Doesn't matter where they're born remember, it's where they first played 1st grade. In any case, Tamou was the one that was the last straw for me. Haven't given a **** about origin since.

Nah not first grade, juniors.
Yeh, I remember they changed the rules shortly before Ronnie was picked in 2021:

"Mulitalo moved from New Zealand to Australia when he was 14 years old. Under the latest Origin eligibility rules, a player must have lived in either state before they turned 13 - if they were not born in Queensland or NSW, or had a father who played in Origin"

Pretty sure if you were born in NSW then move to QLD and played footy up there you could choose either.

But If you come from another country you must do so before turning 13 to play origin.

It's more complex than that.

There are 6 questions for anyone born in NSW or QLD. Majority applies. Father playing origin trumps all other rules.

The "choice" is only for players born outside Qld/NSW who qualify (E.g. Taumalolo) who can choose to play for NZ or Qld.

There is also provision for players born and living near the border. E.g. Tugun is in Qld but plays in the NSWRL. A player who grew up living in and playing for Tugun would likely qualify for NSW but could ask for consideration.

These rules have been in place since 2012, but someone stuffed up Ronnie's eligibility for U18 and U20 origin, so it was only in 2021 that people took notice of them.

What if their mum did?

Would be a very young debutant I guess

But they’ll need to change this in the future

I can think of far easier ways to relieve pressure on the groin but that's just me.

Returning Melbourne star Cameron Munster will undergo double hip surgery at the end of the season to relieve pressure on his troublesome groin.

Perfect example of Origin being a complete farce
Origin has been a farce for over a decade. Ever since they cracked down on the biffo after all of Queensland cried like bitches when Gal put one on Nate Myles' Cleary sized chin it's become a sanitised glorified All Stars game and allowed players like Smith & Thurston to get away with the grubby **** they got away with on a regular basis for the rest of their careers. All the grubby **** we see in the game now stems from that.

Did Royce Hunt make a miraculous recovery? Seemed healthy enough for nsw cup but too sick for 1st grade haha

They made the call early in the week before flying up. Plus a big difference between the two standards
Ahhh gotcha!! Still very bizarre. Hopefully he didn't make the nsw cup team sick

What a wasted opportunity this year. Should have comfortably had the top 4 (if not top 2) locked in.

Looks to me we over-trained in the pre-season and peaked too early. We look tired and disinterested in getting our hands dirty.

Coaching staff need a real hard look at what has happened, from Nov 1 last year until now.

Playing most of the year with our best 3 forwards (coming into the season) off the park/underdone doesn't help.

Even in our good run I didn't think we really looked a premiership threat personally.

The Melbourne win was a gritty one, but it was a game played without both teams halfbacks and their fullback. We had a great shoot out with the chooks, but it wasn't really a finals-style game. Beat the Broncos without anyone in their side and got flogged by an understrength Penrith. I still think we'll finish in that 4-6 range and I think that's a decent representation of where we are.

More games into Tricky and Iro as starters is a great positive to take out of this year. If we can win a finals game I'll be happy with the season.
