I guess nobody there has any idea what they are looking at anyway but this is pretty poor advertising

I know it is Woodsy and the serial killer but could have had them wearing something that made them look remotely athletic.
That could be any two blokes out the crowd putting on an accent. Probably a bit chilly though and ruined the prospect of that.

Then she asks about the tush push which from a League perspective is a dumb question but it is relevant to the USA at the moment. Woodsy tried to give a half sensible answer.

The most disappointing bit though is probably the highlight clips used, thought they were pretty weak
Horrendous effort to promote the game. Almost worse off for it happening

Who in the NRL world thought it would be good marketing to use Sharon Woods and Campbell Graham to promote NRL to America 🤦🏻‍♂️

Out of all the names and faces they could’ve used they pick these two

Brain dead
Agree, odd decision.

To be fair, Woodsy is pretty good in the media. It wouldn't matter if Cleary and Walsh were there, no one in the states know who they are. Picking someone who can speak is the best call.

Agree with bort though the highlights package was garbage and should have shown some decent hits etc.

You pick stars or marketable faces/personalities for a reason. Aaron Woods being good with media didn’t mean anything, it didn’t show in that - those two wouldn’t have won over anybody with that interview. You want to draw people in

Imagine you were in the USA and looked up their highlights

Yeah the old style of grind will crush you under weight of opposition possession now.
Was always about efficiency but you could use bad discipline to your advantage before, you can't now.

I support players being optimistic and backing themselves but I think that's a bit much from Hunt haha

Harder to slow the game down too, even kicking it out is no longer a scrum I don't think, just a change over now.

Can't go on as much with the wrestle ect.

I'm guessing you'll feel better with the player the Broncos' have chosen :ROFLMAO:

Firstly, @Gards congratulation on the comeback.

On the changes to the game, I've looked at this from a lot of different angles. Imo the biggest difference now is the flow of the game. The media might say "faster" or "more ball in play" but I don't think that is actually the case.

10 years ago for every 40 minutes of clock time we would see ~27 minutes of football, and it's the same now. The difference is how those 27 minutes are comprised. We get longer stretches of ball in play, but no more ball in play overall. The stretches are longer but so are the stoppages, and there are more of them. The nature of the game has changed from "maximum effort for 2-3 minutes and then get a very short rest" to "maximum effort for 5-6 minutes and then get a bit longer rest". It's not measurable looking at halves or full games, but when you start breaking down games into 10 minute segments / individual player stints, or actually measuring the amount of stoppage time for different instances within a game this becomes very noticeable.

Imo the 7 tackle set and the "no scrums from ball in to touch" have had just as big a hand in this as 6-agains. Probably bigger. A set of 6 ending with a kick staying in play stretches out the "ball in play time" more than a tackle 0 or 1 set restart.

Yeah I completely appreciate there may have been better choices. But I definitely wouldn't have just picked someone because they were a star/marketable. Some of the faces of our game would have delivered terrible interviews.

I think you could have picked a good media person, and delivered a better highlights package and achieved what we wanted. Or paired a star up with a media veteran like Vossy or Matty Johns for the best of both worlds.

*Someone like Wade Graham would have been perfect. Great speaker, then roll the clips of him smashing cooper cronk on loop.

Probably most well known, relevant players willing to get flown over briefly before Xmas

Again though that’s a shortfall of NRL not making it attractive enough to get better players there

Probably wouldn’t bother googling any of these players after the highlights they included anyway. The clips is the one thing that should have been can’t miss

I agree Paul Kent is trash but in this instance I think he has done little wrong other then overreact.
His ex partner who he had advised he didn't want in his house forced her way in, would not leave and attempted to take his property.
I assume there is more to the story before this but sounds like she was the aggressor and he responded in defense.
Yes there may have been better ways to de-escalate the situation but in the heat of the moment I am sure many would have done the same.

Shame Kents not going to jail, but I'm glad no DV occurred. Would be great if we could throw him in there anyway.
