Yeah we lost week 1 last year but it was by a 90 something minute field goal. If we were “bad” our opponent was only slightly better. Week 2 was embarrassing. I dont think we should have ended up in extra time in week 1 though, the last 15 minutes was horrible
I know but if we can scrape a win in week 1 this year, I have a feeling we will win the second game too (unless we play the Panthers).

Good to be confident, but if we won week 1 (lets assume we finish bottom 4), then the only top 4 team id see us beating is NZ but as it stands i think they have a mental edge on the Sharks anyway

Panthers anywhere and Brisbane, NZ and Melbourne away are all very daunting tasks. I'd have to agree with you.

I've read all the articles and previews, listened to the podcasts (just about to listen to Sams) and while I love how we have been playing over the past two weeks, I am in no way confident as most that we will go up to Townsville and get the 2 points.

We have had great results but Thursday night will be 3 games in 12 days and this is tough. Cows have Nanai back, JT's 250th game, and plenty of dangers in Dearden, Drinkwater etc.

Referee is Adam Gee, who is not too bad but we have the clown prince of all refs Chris Butler in the bunker. It is a cliche but if we keep up our good defence and completions we certainly can win. But with all the travel, the warmer climate in Townsville and the home crowd baying for blood, I think we will find it very hard to get this win.

Motivation for the Cowboys is easy. They have to win to keep in the race for the 8 and they will want to get the win for JT and his milestone. Also, I reckon they were very embarrassed about how we thumped them earlier in the year at Shark Park and they will want revenge for that.

For us, it seems silly to say but if we lose, we can still make the 8 by winning 1 of our 2 remaining games.

I do hope we win. I do hope we work hard and make our tackles and look good in attack. But I am worried that we won't have enough gas in the tank to get the job done.

That’s why we need to finish in top 4.

It’s going to be a huge challenge for us up there. They have some good players who are in career best form as mentioned. But so do we.

Talakai and Ramien are back to their best. Katoa also. Ronnie came back brilliantly last week (happy to be proven wrong here). And our halves have clicked finally. Hynes still hasn’t hit his peak this season and maybe this game is where it starts for him.

Our defence has been a lot better and our forwards seem to be having a real crack. I think the timing of Wades retirement announcement was perfect for us and has really awoken something in this squad to want to give this year a real crack and not just be a fill in come finals time.

Maybe just me but every time i've seen the Cowboys win well this season it appears as tho they played like the Harlem Globe Trotters , heaps of off loads and throwing it about and hail Mary's , if we can keep the ruck tight , an area they exploit well , especially Deardon , and keep the off loads to a minimum then i believe we are the better team .
