I appreciate the narrative shift from

  • I don't think we will see both the Sharks and Cowboys maintain their success, Sharks had an easy draw and crashed out of finals last year, so I think they will be the ones to fall
to

  • Well even though the bulldogs have a better team off course they got easily beaten by the Sharks they are one of the best sides in the competition
Let's hope it sticks
Yep, I swear all I seen on media pages, sport columns, NRL ladder predictions etc the last few weeks in the comment sections was “Sharks will slide right out they had a soft draw”

Then all I seen on the Bulldogs Vs Sharks match reports comments on the same sites was “Sharks are very good and are a top 4 side though”

I have the average attendance for the trials at 8,204... pretty healthy (more than a lot of regular season games).

Could be because the season starts a month earlier... but some good signs for the game up here in SEQ. Registrations across all ages are up 20% compared to this time last season. Someone must be doing something right in the NRL/QRL to be bringing players back.

Penrith trying to get cap relief for May, arguing he was injured in a ‘rep game’ (like international, origin or all stars). I guess it’s worth a go but it’s odd to me it could be counted as a rep game and I don’t think I agree with it. He is a panthers player who got hurt playing for panthers in a game the panthers agreed to play and chose him to play in.

Suggestion they could use it to get Dom Young for the year but more likely they use it to help with retention or try make another late season TPJ-like move

+20% is massive!
Yeah it is great. Probably not a 20% rise though. Just a rise in people who got their finger out early. E.g. My team last year had only 9 players registered at the end of Feb, and and ended up with 19 total. Of those 19 I had 16 of them registered by 30 Jan this year.

Agree probably not a 'true' 20% rise but actually getting people to pull their finger our early is not easy either

Yeah surely can't happen
I don't care that they've asked, I'd want us to at least try for it too.

But if NRL agrees the Panthers now count as a rep team we will have to petition they not be eligible to play in the NRL anymore.

Yeah asking is fine, no issue with that bit.
