Fox have our best 17 as
Kennedy
Katoa
Ramien
Talakai
Mulitalo
Moylan
Hynes
Rudolf
Brailey
Hamlin-Uele
Nikora
Wilton
Finucane

McInnes
Kaufusi
Hunt
Graham

Thought it was interesting they have opted to bench Graham, I think most of us are thinking that won't happen.
If we bench him to give ourselves two 80 minute young edge players I'm fine with that, hopefully he at least plays well enough to deserve the bench jersey as Williams would have to be banging down the door of this line up

They also list Dale Finucane as 'club captain' - is that different to team captain?

Yeah don't mind that team. The 1-7 takes care of itself. I like the pack.

Yes. Club captain is a different thing to team captain. Club captain is a senior member who acts as an off-field mentor, and also is the club representative to certain league events/meetings.

Newcastle split the team (Ponga) and club (Brailey) captain duties last year. Jason Croker was once the Raiders club captain but I don't believe he was ever the team captain. There are several other examples.

You can be a good on-field/game day captain without necessarily being a good mentor or a confident speaker in meetings, so the roles can be split.

Well we had that at my club too but the club captain just arranged the piss ups and end of season trip. I guess there was likely less demand for media though...

Wasn't sure if NRL clubs also did it or not - I suspected yes but seemed odd to specifically name Finucane as club captain after just talking about benching Graham, who they didn't say was team captain. Unless trying to imply something would make more sense to mention both or neither.

I've also had the conversation with several coaches across different levels about captaincy. Sometimes the players who make the best team captains are the worst at talking to referees.

Haha yeah - this too.

I've had conversations with several coaches across all ages (u12 up to seniors). There is also a sense that some players just never learn how to talk to a ref. Sometimes you need two guys 2 guys. One who the players actually listen to, and one who is the "captain" as far as the ref is concerned.

Sometimes it is entirely necessary for your leader to give the team a gob full, but if he's the sort of guy who is prone to that sort of stuff you want to hedge your bets and keep him well away from the bloke with the whistle.

Cheers @Western Sharkie .
The held/release call change will likely be the big one... How quickly they call it will make a real difference. We should see faster play the balls and more 6 agains, or the offload come back in a bigger way.
Yeah its got cluster**** written all over it

Expecting fast play the balls AND the defensive line to be compliant in getting set 10+ metres away from the last point of engagement is ambitious.

edit: then again, Usain Bolt was able to travel 10 metres per second, so as long as the play the ball doesn't take longer than 'one alligator' it should be fine
I prefer one Mississippi

47 days until 2023 season kicks off.

I was just thinking that perhaps footy fans will eventually evolve to a point where they can enter a state of hibernation during the offseason.

Just read that. Hopefully all this mess leads to the downfall of PVL. Let's move on with some better leadership.

piece in the daily tele saying we are leading a bouycott of the nrl media sessions, photos and interviews as there is still no cba in place

seems childish so i am keen for it
Just read it. Bit disappointing as we were the ones mentioned not doing media duties. Can the sharks release their own articles? Off season is long and boring without being starved of content. Unfair on the fans.
