Think it was a 3 year with an option in his favour each year to stay at the club.
Seems very odd. Surely neither side allow for 6 years of options to be purely in the others court. Therefore doesn't it just make the option redundant, because you're just renegotiating anyway?

The option still gives him the security of what must be a pretty healthy salary. It's a bloody good deal for Brown.

Only if its a player option, in which case parra are stupid. If it's a club option, he's stupid. If it's a mutual option, either I don't really understand what that means, or neither side really benefits.

Yeah I've never really understood the mutual option tbh.

I think it can be like other payments based off outcomes
So say 800k MO
Both say yea obviously deal goes ahead but player says yes club says know maybe he gets a 100k payment or something like that.
Maybe they forfeits some amount of remaining wage if club says yes and player says no? (Usually options have a date they need to be taken up by)

The article I read said player option, but we all know how much faith you should put in that...

More so than a contract just ending but it's not like there are dozens of different iterations or something.
Both agree = 1 outcome
Club agrees only = 1 outcome
Player agrees only = 1 outcome
They agree on terms for each outcome.

From a fan perspective it looks a bit quirky but it's still the same 2 outcomes as any other scenario - they stay or they leave.
We don't know the complex details just like we don't with every other contract.

apparently Moses wants to make a decision before Christmas. It’s between the tigers, eels and dogs. But maybe the dolphins will now throw the bank at him?

Seriously can’t believe they still haven’t got a big signing. Thought they would of had 2 or 3 by now.

I'm actually not that surprised. Bennett isn't quite the drawcard he might have been. Other clubs have put forward pretty solid offers to counter the Dolphins recruiting their big names. And being a foundation player for the Dolphins wouldn't quite have the prestige of say moving to Melbourne for their innaugral season. the Dolphins have also had to be very careful about paying premiums.

I think they've done reasonably well, all things considered.

They may not have a Latrell Mitchell Or Teddy level signing, but they have a pretty handy team and will do perfectly fine for a first year. I seriously think this has been made out to be bigger than it is.

Yep.

A well documented example was Darbs. He had an option clause for the final year that became active once he played a certain amount of games in the second last year.

Both agree - stay with X dollars
Broncos yes / Darbs no = stay with Y dollars
Broncos no / Darbs yes = he gets a payout
