I don't think the halves are really the problem. Even though I do wish Moylan could kick more. Finucane, BHU and Toby are our three most important members of our forward pack and 2 of 3 are out. Getting them back will make a huuuuge difference for us.

I mentioned this in maybe the game day thread but after watching how Trindall played pretty well when he came on and appeared to straighten our attack what's everyone's thoughts of maybe playing Trindall / Hynes for a few weeks?

Reason being:

1. Two kickers
2. Hynes likes running the ball later in the takle count so this could free him up to do so.
3. Freshen Hynes up a bit (doesn't have to have the whole world on his shoulders)
4. Reset the opposition's tactics against us (they all seem to shut us down now)

Thoughts?
My thoughts are it’s round 11 and Trindall just now getting talked about.
If he’s the answer he should have put a better effort into showing it all the other weeks (yes, in various roles).
String a few more performances together and coach might start to consider it.

Our halves are good enough to take advantage if our forwards are dominating but can't seem to dig us out of trouble.

I think we all thought our forwards had improved but it seems it was only the addition of better cattle (as Burgos charts show us) that made them look better

I would like to know the defensive stats such as post contact metres conceded and offloads conceded. I thinks that's where our forwards are getting rolled.

I think Rudolf, Fifita and Hunt have all improved this season and are continuing to show that despite some injuries to other key personnel

BHU has also improved but obviously haven't seen him lately

Thanks coach.

In all seriousness Trindalls game/skill set suits Hynes game but it’s a shame we haven’t been allowed to see it happen in game, I wouldn’t mind Moylan going away for a few games and us trialing it out

I don't know about that, we've had a few games now with plenty of ball in the oppositions 20 without a lot to show. We look rudferless at times.

Yeah, that's fair. The wheels have definitely fallen off lately.

We will struggle against the top sides with 4 or 5 of our top 17 missing - we can cover it for the lesser teams but not the big guns .

Roosters are too good a side to be missing BHU and Finucane and Ramien vs then missing Radley (and Verills I guess but may as well count Graham too in that case).

We played not great but lost in the middle again and Teddy absolutely shredded us off the back of it. He had a great game

Again, we had plenty of ball in their red zone to score tries, nothing to do with the ruck and no excuses there

Having a middle who can ball play (Finucane) makes a big difference when attacking inside 20. McInnes just isn’t on the same level.
Yeh we are not getting offloads inside their 20 to take advantage of.

We are either going sideways or one out hit ups.

In the first few rounds of the year we were kicking early in the 4th, we had a great kick chase and we kept the opposition down in their half.
Not sure why that has gone. Building that suffocating defence is what wins games.

We have a smaller forward pack, and we aren't playing to their strengths. Kick early on the 4th, pin the attackers in their half, get them really working and tire them out. When the opposition forwards are tiring it out, that's when our smaller forwards will have more impact in their hit ups.

Honestly we have the team to play it simple but we panic as soon as our game plan gets tested.

It’s almost like at the beginning everyone was trying to impress and now they’ve stopped trying to keep that high standard and are just taking what’s easy/shortcuts

This is true but this is something we’ve known.. the team and the coach know he’s not going to be around for a while, it wouldve be nice to see a plan to work around this rather then what we have seen. We are 7th and without a short kicking game we don’t know how to build pressure through getting repeat sets when we can’t score neither

The Roosters test the refs resolve inside their own red zone - and once they establish that the sin bin will not be used - they are hard to score against .

This was a factor - along with a lack of cohesion on our part ..
