I hate getting too excited too early but geez this team has got something. We've got good versatility (Talakai, Tracey) just to name 1-2 out of a few. Our defence was rock solid today, it's not often we keep a team scoreless, Newcastle were just rattled today from the first 5 minutes.

If we can improve our attacking decisions on the last tackle when we are attacking we could probably score heaps more too. Hynes has got to improve his goal kicking aswell though. Not to say he hasn't impressed me, he's done us heaps this year already.

Kicking conversions in tonight's conditions was like pin the tail on the donkey but yeah generally he could improve his goal kicking. I think it will come.

With the wind I guess it would have been difficult but we also struggled with our kicking over Parra too although if I remember correctly that game may have been a bit windy too? In saying that, if we don't take our kicks it takes supporters a lot longer to feel confident for a win. I like Hynes don't get me wrong but I didn't feel overly confident until the last 4 minutes when we'd already scored 3 tries.

Those Saifiti brothers are weapons. If they ever thought of relocating would be more than happy to house them @ the Sharks.

When he was lining up that kick for goal on the sideline at half time, he turned to either the bench or Cummins and just said ‘whats the point?’. Summed up last night pretty well as far as goal kicking is concerned. All the goal kickers and general play kickers get a free pass last night as far as im concerned.

Same play here Thresher Shark - I am re watching the Sharks games this year, as frankly, they are beautiful to watch,

I watched the game again this morning, concentrating on off ball incidents.

Neither here nor there with Referee Ben Cummins, but he was consistent on Friday night with one very crucial aspect:

Not treating Kaylin Fi&*$@ Ponga Like a protected species - he was treated the same as all players Friday night - despite his Shakespearean esq theatrics.

Being Newcastle Marquee player, Ponga is always heavily involved. Ponga continually plays for penalties by flaying in tackles, (managed an an actual forward roll onto a defender after he was tackled in one instance) & staying down after being hit when he ran into the line, passed last minute & was ironed out legally by Nikora.

The irony with the above incident, is on the same play as Ponga was lying down baying for penalty from Nikiora’s “Late hit” on the golden boy, Mulitalo was actually caught high illegally at the end of the same play & was laundered by all for getting straight up

DCE & Moses do the same thing, as Ponga; drives me spare.

So kudos to Ben Cummins for keeping it an even playing field On Friday - now the same when we take on DCE & all his special kind of BS.

I thought Cummins did a reasonable job, but it was the bunker that interfered and reversed some decisions.
That no try to Talakai drives me nuts, Some as the Souths one for Ilias
No way Saifiti was getting near WK (no chance) and the defender put on a decent and normal hit on Ilias but just wasn’t good enough.

Along those types back, are the ones that bother me.

I'll typically always watch a win again, definitely if I've been to the game as you miss alot of detail, those beers dont help either.

Been fun watching these games again, seeing our defensive improvements which I know we expected but still has been a huge plus this year.

Wow we are playing so well, looking really good out there. Slick fast attack, and aggressive tight defense. Good ball handling and improvement with our discipline. Things have started to click very quickly in this side and that's super impressive from the players and coaching staff. Every player looks a better version of themselves.

This is the most motivated and determined they have looked since 2016

Don't have to **** myself every time the opposition has the ball anymore or cringe in attack when we try some desperate play that goes over the sideline or gets spilled. Sharks are a proper footy side again! woohoo  how good is it

Thought we handled Pinga exceptionally well on Friday, for a player that used to cause us alot of headaches we really shut him down and gave him no opportunities or space. He tried to get involved alot from first receiver (over playing? desperate? lack of space / field position created by knights due to our punishing smashing defense?) but we didn't have a bar of it and shut him down every time.

We caused him to have a very poor game riddled with errors and lack of rhythm at a time when he is trying to make himself look as valuable as possible. Knights fans complaining he not worth the $1 Million LOL yea no ****, hardly any players in the NRL are.

I think his technique (how he actually approaches, kicks the ball and follows through) is solid it's just a matter of adjusting his radar and that's a good thing if it's just an accuracy thing and learning how to manage the wind ect, it's not like he needs a complete over haul to his method or starting from scratch or anything.

It's not like his technique is flawed causing him to shank them or something IMO. He strikes the ball well and has shown he can nail them in some games so I think with more practice and tutoring he will come good for us and be more consistent. maybe make some slight adjustments to how he sights and line them up.

Those Saifiti brothers are weapons. If they ever thought of relocating would be more than happy to house them @ the Sharks.

they didn't have a particular great game against us on Friday night? especially jacob, errors , missed tackles ect. We are stacked with quality forwards I don't feel like some Newcastle offcuts at the moment

Have to rewatch a win without the beer goggles & stress

it's still kinda stressful though

it's like brain muscle memory or something, automatically goes into hyper anxious nervous state when Sharks are playing (fight or flight!)

I've enjoyed every sharks game this year though despite some close scorelines and it's no doubt much easier on the eyes and ears in season 2022
