I would name a healthy 17 players, and then hook our 6, 7, 9 and 13 pre-game if the Cowboys lose.

1. Miller
2. Tracey (Iro)
3. Ramien
4. Talakai
5. Mulitalo
6. Moylan
7. Hynes
8. Uele
9. Brailey
10. Hunt
11. Nikora
12. Graham
13. Finucane
-
14. Wilton
15. Tolman
16. Fifita
17. McInnes
-
18. Dykes / Metcalf —> Moylan
19. Trindall —> Hynes
20. Berrell —> Brailey
21. Colquhoun —> Finucane
This!

They play less than 24 hrs before us, we get 19 players.

I really don't think it will be an option anyways, Panthers are going to go in with a NSW Cup side.

Would make sense to give Berrell a run, we're pretty thin on tested first grade hooker options

I like this strategy but the only 1 thing that needs considering is Nicho’s chance of a Dally M. So I’d leave it up to him. If he feels good and wants to play, then I would play him.

But their NSW cup side is playing a major semi final this week ..

All this talk about resting players - we don't want complacency. Even players thinking they may get a rest (pending Penrith result) worries me.
I like Burgo’s approach.

Name a full strength side (from who is available) and name reserves to cover key players who could do with a week off if possible.

IF, the win is no longer required to keep 2nd spot, then we probably should rest Moylan, Dale, Brails.
I’m still 50/50 on Nicho but only for his chance at the Dally M so would leave that up to him.

I understand some peoples hesitation in resting players but I think the benefits will outweigh the negatives if we are in a position to do so.

They may nt get a rest but I think we should embrace ourselves for another showng like the dogs game. Minimal compliance, just do whatever is necessary to get by.

I am going to watch with that mindset, with low expectations and definitely not expecting a huge scoreline. I would not be surprised if the score is something like 12-0 or 16-4 or something.

I think it will be active resting.

Happy with this - as long as this isn't the mindset of the players. They need to be prepared as if they are playing as normal.

It's not about complacency though, it's about having guys fresh for the finals.

I don't think I can overly say we've rocked up complacent in any games this year. Yes we've been **** with our ball handling in a number of games, but I always thought the effort was there.

There's really not too many players that look like they need a rest more than they need to sharpen up their attacking play.
You could rest Dale and Cam. Maybe reduce Blayke's minutes.... who else, and why? We're getting a pretty soft run into the finals and I can't see the workload being the deciding factor, but could see not scoring enough points bringing us ondone.

Yep I agree.

If we'd been flogging ourselves in epic games like last weekend's Roosters v Storm we might need a rest.

We've been getting training runs instead.

Rest up those with niggling injuries for sure. The rest can keep working on their chops.

Knights only paying $5.

Thought it would be at least $7

Betting markets I would take as indicative only - the punters don't even know what team Cronulla will name yet plus we haven't had an easy game against Newcastle very often the last few years with or without Pinga

Dale needs game time IMO providing he is fit and so do the combos that play around him - Dale has had a very disruptive couple of months

We should name Tolman, he can play longer minutes to give some other forwards an early shower if need be. Not a fan of Trindall from the bench but might make sense this week to give a half or hooker a break, even a forward.

I would only rest Brailz if he can come out of the blocks like a cannon on fire like he did against the Raiders in the week 1 final in 2020. His energy and attacking play almost won us that game but he went down injured IIRC. The bloke is young and fit but he makes a **** tonne of tackles week in week out

Our halves are great this year but we will need our hooker at his best in the finals too, especially if we come up against a team like the Roosters which are a powerhouse through the ruck

If we didn't want to give Berrell a run then I agree it is a good week to bench Trindall, ideally to sub out either half for an early finish.
McInnes could chime into hooker for last 10-15 if we wanted to take the edge off Blaykes workload.

Unless another forward had a niggle we wanted to rest I think Tolman can only be in if Fifita is out (bench of Wilton, McInnes, Trindall and Fifita/Tolman)
But given Tolmans bigger engine he could be a shout there, go light on Andrew's knees for a big game the week after.
Tolman is also one who if everything goes well may miss out on the finals 17 so doesn't hurt to get him an extra game while we can.

A discussion for another thread but that game worried me.

Absolutely.
If this was another thread I'd add that it was at such a higher level of intensity than the Bunnies must-win game over the Cowboys that it was like they were from different competitions.
